Nope! Taking a leap of faith. It's just over 1900 grams.

It probably sounds AMAZING as is. Please, I beg you, do not drill that cymbal. Hurting

I agree with Legacy, there are plenty old Ks with rivets out there. I'm sure you can easily sell this one down the road if you just aren't happy with it and get one with rivets...rather than altering a cymbal that is becoming quite rare.

yes, I see your point...

There aren't too many for sale these days.

I hate feeBay, like most of the rest of us, but I see them on their quite frequently. Steve Maxwell's, Classic Vintage, and others have had them. Also, just do a Google search for "Istanbul K rivet" or Turkey K sizzle" or something like that. Be patient. Seek and ye shall find!

It's his cymbal to do with as he pleases. Drill. Don't drill. It doesn't matter. If he's cool with the loss of value, let him be. It's his money and his cymbal.

this would be the perfect cymbal to try out that hammering technique on, You know drill 10- 15 holes in it then Hammer away!!! ""Go BIG or Go Home!!!"":Snow Flake:

I can't, and won't, argue against that. It's just that the thought of drilling an old K breaks my heart. What can I say, I'm very much a purist.

True Roger,..But remember the cash for clunkers deal,...try and find parts for a 67 Mustang or 72 Dodge,...same deal with vintage cymbals, when they go,..they`re gone and every little save from us helps !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Lynn and Oddy, I am in your camp. I hate the idea of ruining perfectly good vintage equipment. But, once the point is made, we really should back off and let the man be. Personally, I would not drill a sweet old hand hammered cymbal. If you want a sizzle, slap on a chain or a couple of dimes or a sizzler or a few nails or any number of other methods. Or just buy a sizzle cymbal.

I made my comment 'cause it was getting thick with people against it. I just posted a reminder. That's all. Nothing more.

I've said it before...

I remember reading that some jazz great said he had drilled old K's in the past, and was never happy with the results after...

Hang a dog chain/Camco sizzler..whatever!

I think I have 3 Camco sizzlers here right now!
