My lucky day Last viewed: 1 minute ago

Just saw this post. Really nice set. I'd say that's factory paint on the interiors--I've seen lots of interiors just like that. They put the thinnest layer of paint they could get away with, often with a faint stamp, or none at all. My guess that any worker who spent time making sure the interiors looked nice probably got sent down the road. No one paid the slightest attention to the insides of these things. I've read that there was a paint store nearby & Ludwig bought any kind of white paint they had on hand, & probably watered it down to go ****her (did I get '***' for that?).

I wouldn't try wetsanding the shells, but there is an interesting post on here about getting the yellow out of WMP--might be worth a try on these as well. You're a handy guy, & could probably pull it of. btw, how big's your shop?...marko

I agree the paint was done at the factory and it is like a semi transparent stain almost. The toms have it but the bass dosen't. Thanks for the info on Ludwig. I ended up just using the Novus 2 on the shells and they look great! The chrome is cleaning up really nice also. I have the BD hoops painted and ready to go, hope to have all the drums back together tonight/ Pics comming soon.

My shop is really small @ 32x34. Its attached to my home and office. Its small but we have done some pretty big jobs. Did a 6000 sf home once, all bath kitchen and built-ins. I think 168 doors and like 98 drawers, 40 sheets plywood. I build everything, no outsourcing.

Well sorry for getting off the drum subject, but again, they are gonna be awesome! Cant wait to plat the darn things.

Jeff that's a funny one, But believe me I certainly don't have the most drums and do not want to. On a side note just bought a kit and in large part due to the ruckus of my original post to which I had reffered to, a seller that lurks on this forum, sent me a pm asking If I was interested in his Ludwig mach 5 Don Brewer Grand Funk kit, same color and sizes minus the back floor tom. He only lives 30 minutes from me so.. I bought them yesterday. I told the seller to just post them on the forum, he stated he didn't want nor was going to go thru the hassle of shipping. He stated that he knew I did this a lot and would just as well sale them to me. I'll post them in a few days in the For sale section.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

On the interior paint - it's just great you can make out a date stamp at all, any repaint would probably have oblitarated it. I have a OBP kit like yours and none of the drums have a date stamp and the paint is original. The 13" tom was a replacement I bought on Ebay and it too had no date stamp, my '64 Supra has no date stamp neither does a 65 Acro I bought recently.

Great score btw.
