Thanks! I got a few pictures of her set up all original. Now I'm tearing them down and moving them to the drum room to play! Keep on Pl

Great save on the BD! Glad you could do that.....

just be careful putting the new heads on....you don't want to split the finish any more then it is!

Gretsch used to have Remo make their heads for them, and also make them a little larger then normal,so you might find stock Remo's go on a bit hard.

I have had 4-6 BDP Gretsch kits over the years, and they had some of the prettiest BDP out there.

Find old Stones pictures of Charlie playing a kit or Jimmie Cobb also.

I think 2 of the nicest Gretsch BDP kits I had were:

a 20,12,14 N.Mint RB kit I sold Aaron Comess (Spin Doctors) around 15 years ago. You couldn't find a cleaner kit I don't think!

They featured him in MD a couple of years ago,and it is shown in there.....He still has it!

Also,a Square Badge 24,12,13 (or,was it 13,14?),16 kit.

That was in ex/n.mint. Very hard to find in those sizes!

Just wondering, what did you do to get the wrap to lay flat?

I used a hair dryer and c-clamps with some wood. It was a pain in the butt. I could only heat up a small section at a time or else it would cool down and become harder to lay down. The contact cement needs about 20 minutes to set up, so it was a 2" per hour process.

That's interesting! I don't know where these drums rank on a scale, but they are 100% complete and original, I even have the original cases and cymbals. I don't know if I'm going to change heads yet, I did the snare and it looks SO new. They sure do sound great though!

Everything you see in the "original" picture came together plus cases. The "modern" picture is just the Gretsch shells with newer stuff I've collected through the years mostly from the late 90's.

8" A splash

18" K Custom Dark Medium Thin Crash

13" K Custom Dark Hi Hats

20" A Custom Brilliant Ride

20" A ride 60's era

This vintage 20" ride is the most amazing cymbal I've ever played. There is a thread with some info on the vintage cymbals here:
