If they are the spirit 1000 then they are 3ply without re-rings... Same quality but no rings. Some sort of student model. But I'm not shure that mine are that model... Hoped you guys could help me identify ;)Henning

Slingerland had 3 ply shells with no re rings also.

I believe the clip on tom was gone by mid 70`s. Before that the Windsor fits this kit having the Silver inlay.

Do you think I should remove the wrap from all the drums? - and even if the toms are thin shells? - should be no problem right ?

I don`t see a seam at the tom mount, Are you sure there is wrap on the drums ?

Up close and focused pics. of the edges, and pics. showing each drum side view with brackets, mounts badges showing will help a lot.

You could look with a magnifying glass at the edges of the drilling to see what layers you have. No, nothing goes no problem with things like this.

I don`t see anything messed with from inside view.

2. Edge of one of the toms... can't remember which one. But they have both the same edges.

and the final two.

1. Outside seam of the 20x14 bass drum.

2. Badge of the 20x14 bass drum.

The kick drum is 3ply with re-rings and I can see clearly traces of old Sling hardware... Bracket and legs. Someone has updated the kick drum with Tama hardware.... But I can't see traces on the toms that the brackets have been updated. Looks like they were there from the start.

Hope you help me with this.

What should I do with the kit... remove wrap of all drums ?

Sand inside down and repaint ?

Any ideas / thoughts ?

Cheers

Henning

From what I see through the drill holes... the toms are thin layer of Maple on the inside and then a thicker layer of poplar and then a thin outer ply of mahogany.

The kick drum looks like maple-poplar-maple... The wrap is really thin on the bass drum.
