Im just trying to stir something up here. Do you prefer a real floor tom with legs, or a hangin' floor tom from a cymbal stand?

I vote real floor tom for sure.

Hanging ones just don't look right to me. :2Cents:

I agree, I wonder why all these hangin' toms are out these days. Some things are better left alone!

Hangers seem hard to position to me and it seems like they always end up sagging if the drums are bigger. I like the stability and the ease of placement with the legs. I could see using a hanger on a 14 or something maybe. My friend hangs his 14 inchers and digs it. To each his own I guess!

I rented a drum kit to Miller pro Audio here for the county fair. Blue Oyster Cult and the Grass roots played em. The both specified floor tom with legs on thier rider....

Floor toms with legs sound different that the ones on a stand YUCK!!!!!!!! they are a Super pain in the azz to position and another heavy bulky stand to drag around!!! If It ain't broke to messy with it floor tom are just that sitting on the floor:Santa:

Hanging "floor" toms aren't floor toms. They are just bouncy sagging toms....much like my ex........er never mind...LoLoLoLo

Seriously though, not a fan of the "hanging floor tom".....they move around too much to my liking. Traditional floor tom legs are much lighter and easier to carry around than another heavy stand.

I'm a leg-man, for sure. I also think they look cooler. The hanging versions look wimpy and make the kit look like something's missing (to me).
