gonedrums: I'm not sure what to suggest on dealing with the stain, though painting it grey doesn't seem the best option. Some of the guys hear are into the woodworking and finishing skills and can perhaps give you better direction.

As some of you may have noticed, the 18" tom I talked about in my last post was really a 16" tom.So much for my roof reading.

The shell I thought was stained wasn't.The color showing through the cracks in the wrap was the adhesive!Once the wrap was removed and the glue taken off there was nice bare wood.Set has now been sent to Lawton's for re-covering in Red Glass Glitter. Will be 3-4 months, but it just makes me feel like a kid at Christmas. You know what "they"say,"you have to get old but you don't have to grow up"I'm guessing I am not the only one in this forum with that philosophy! MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you and your loved ones.May you celebrate the birth of Christ with joy AND may Santa leave you some cool vintage drums!Jim

Your doing it wrong. Find a project tom and a black onyx kick
And rack. Then you will have 2 kits. Problem solved.
That(says my wife),is not a problem solved, but two problems created!
