Rogers Protoype? Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Loading...

So I picked this set "Rogers" up from a fellow drummer here in town. After consulting with another group of collectors, they deemed my set a rare one off proto type. I added the little wing nut on the tom holder, I still have all the original parts. No Badges, but the floor tom leg fasteners say "Rogers". 22,13,16

The Lug specs are:

Top to bottom overall: 2"

Left to right all: 1"

hole spacing center to center: 1 7/8

I will post the pics.....you tell me. Honestly, I am a Slingerland/Radio King guy, but this is what I thought Rogers would sound like and they are AMAZING! The playback in the studio was instant magic...Anyway, enjoy!

So,I call on the amazing powers collected within the VDF mind bank-are these Rogers or Duplex?I'm saying Duplex, mainly due to the rail mount and tom leg mounts.I have never seen Rogers with that flat-bar style consolette.

Thanks for moving my original post. I am just figuring out the lay of the land here.... From what I was told and have read, the rail tom mount was offered by Rogers. I have seen the brackets on other Rogers FT as well. The wing tighteners are stamped with "Rogers" as well. The sound from these drums is amazing.

I have a floor tom just like your kit and I took it to the Chicago Drum Show several years ago to find out about it. I was told by several people there that they thought it was a Grossman Music drum offered by them after they sold Rogers to CBS. Either made up of left over shells or built in Covington Ohio factory after CBS moved Rogers to Fullerton. It's defiantly a Rogers drum with different lugs, no badge or paper tag. That's what I was told but I'm sure there are more informed Rogers people here than me that can tell you what your set is.

I'm pretty sure Rogers used that mount before the Swivo stuff was developed.

Is your floor WMP? Looks the same, exactly? Do you have a pic?

Curious and made me look...1955, 1956 and 1957 all pre Swivo had hoop mounted tom holders. Oddly enough from the 59R(1958) Swivo start catalog through the 64R catalog there was a shell mounted W+A type generic shell mount tom holder offered along side the Swivo holders. Most Duplex outfits offered in the 68 Grossman catalog showed the single tom mount same as yours and the other set like yours found a few years back on the Rogers Owners Forum. Pics below:

Yes. Same with the floor Tom backers as well. I questioned the cymbal holders too and a collector sent me a Rogers catalog that showed those as well. Really the lugs are the big mystery. I have heard they were experimenting after the BB and before beavertails. I would live to get the l-arms for the set. If I wasn't too self conscious I would post the the isolated drum tracks from the last sessions I did. Huge , no EQ'ing!

Exactly, WMP and the same leg mounts that say Rogers. I don't have the legs but I think Ludwig legs would work. It's in great shape, it even has the old style tall COB hoops. Sorry I don't have a picture.
