The decision to quit smoking is really crucial to your overall health and general well-being.I was able to divert my craving with substitution-Canada Mints. After 26 years I still get a twinge when I smell tobacco. A good friend/fellow drummer has quit and started up again at least 10 times,so it is NOT easy. But the benefits-in 2 weeks you'll wake up and smell a smell you'd forgotten existed.Good luck!Clapping Happy2

Not to worry, Kevin, a little 'Gold Bond Powder' in your 'Manpers' should take care of that!

John lol

Too many great drums to list here!

Good move Kev!

Dont try to do it the easy way, like I did.

I started to chew nicotine chewing gums. And what happend?, -I got addicted to the gums instead. I have been chewing for 18 years now.:(

Ok, I have never been tempted to go back to smoking but I'm still just as addicted to nicotine as I ever was.

I can't offer any tips because I've never been a smoker - except when trying to fit in with the cool guys in my junior high and HS days. However, my dad has been smoking since he was 13 and he turned 57 last Tuesday. I've seen him try to quit many times and fail, so I know it's not easy. I wish you well, Kevin! You will do it!

I'm no guru, just a vintage drum junkie!

Good luck you CAN do it. I started when I was 11 and stopped/started a few times over the years. At almost $9 a pack here I just can't afford it. The thing I noticed the most was my taste buds came alive after about a month. Food tasted so much better. Never tried the gums or patches. Did try the pills Zyban/Wellbutrin which are a anti depressant. Felt a little tweaked on those and some wierd mood swings but stopped the smoking craving dead in it's tracks. When it all comes down to it will power and wanting to stop for good is what did it for me. You'll feel better too. Save all the cash for a year you'd normally spend on cigs and treat yourself to a nice vacation or new set of drums~~!! You'll save over $3000 a year! flowers2

I tried just about everything out there, including acupressure/acupuncture,hypnosis.I finally started smoking cigatettes that tasted horrible, and cut back on how many I could smoke a day.

I couldn't breathe anymore. That was a little over two years ago,and I haven't smoked since.Last year,I was diagnosed with COPD.My pulminologist feels that even though I smoked, the root cause was from being a first responder on 9/11.

Anyway...you can do this. The cravings only last a short while.Break all of your smoking "triggers".I used to get into my truck, seat belt, and light up.Always after a meal,or that first beer.Break the habits,it makes quitting a lot easier

Wash all of your clothes, and air out everytning that you can't wash, and clean everything. And if all else fails, keep photos of smokers and non smokers lungs on your hard drive.

If you want,I'll even PM you my phone number,so you can call me if you're having a particular tough craving, and I'll do may best to talk you down...or maybe I'll just cough in the phone for 5 minutes.

I wish you all the best.............you CAN make this happen.

Gambling

TV

Swearing

Cocaine

Sugar

Caffeine

When you stop, food will taste so much better. You will sleep better. your going to feel better. I used to smoke a little on the weekends after a few drinks but when cigarettes hit $5.00 a pack I never bought another one. Think of all the drum equipment you can buy with the money you would spend on smokeing. If your as frugal a guy as I am you can do it.
