Oooh, looks like someone knows their USPS P&DC/Transportation SOP's! Quite correct there. Yes, there is nothing more secure than Registered Mail, but the security processes require employee signatures of acceptance every time the piece changes hands. This protects against loss, but can delay the piece slightly more than First Class or Priority Mail which are handled and sorted through completely automated processes. Small price to pay. It's the only way to ship something that has intrinsic value and which can't be replaced (like a rare BB!)
Ok, here's the latest poop... I just got off the phone with a very sweet postal worker in Illinois named, Dorita. Dorita told me not to worry, because registered mail must be -signed for- each step along the way, it is the -slowest- way to send anything! It's the price you pay for the increased security the package receives. It'll get here... just can't say when.

John,
That's exactly what I said several posts ago! Relax. In 30 years with the Postal Service, I've only seen one Registered Parcel get lost (and that's because it contained illegal drugs and was stolen from one of our drivers). Many can't get delivered for various reasons, but those always make it back to the sender. Registered mail is sloooow. I had to respond to a similar complaint from Rolex this month. When Dorita in Chicago punched in your Reg. Tracking number, she got a whole lot more information than you can get when you use the Tracking tool at USPS.com. Your local Post Office can also watch this package every step of the way. Keep in contact with them.
