Hey John! I haven't posted in a while, but I have definitely been following your thread. Thanks for giving us permission to drool all over our keyboards... I drooled so much that I nearly shorted mine out! Mind Blowi

That is a gorgeous drum, my friend! Thank you for taking us along for the ride, sharing this awesome story with us, and huge kudos on getting her all prettied up! It was awesome to read how everyone pitched in to help and how everyone else was so excited to read about the progress and follow along in the adventure. Just like you said John, that's what makes me love this forum too... Great bunch of folks.

I sincerely wish that she brings you many, many years of enjoyment. Play that beauty in good health John, well done and well deserved! Clapping Happy2

John,

The standard adjectives do not do this justice so I'll have to make one up. That drum looks Fantamazacular! What a great way to respect a drum of this lineage. When can you put the new rims and clips on it? I would hate to see you break one.

By the way, I do have to agree that your square knot appears to have some granny characteristics. I know, it was late and you were excited. I guess that means we cannot go rappelling or rock climbing when you have a 90 year old Black Beauty on your mind, or, if so, I'll do the knot tying.

I'm all seriousness, congratulations my friend.

Wow...just beautiful, like in game 7 of the World Series, bottom of the 9th,tie score, bases loaded, full count,and.........pop.......this ball is going....going......into the upper deck in Yankee Stadium(my anology...I get to pick the team).

John Velez has cleared the bases, with a World Series, grand slam home run.I'll bet it kind of feels like that...just not as loud!Excited

wowser!!! that thing turned out great. what a beautiful drum. hope you enjoy that one for a long time.

I know you will, but please be careful with those original clips. they will snap right at the top with even moderate pressure. I know the hard way. and don't judge the sounds until you get your new clips and can tune it like you want. many think the 5x14 8 lug model is THE sound in these. I sure do.

as far as pics,no need for any from me john. none of mine are the deluxe-black beauty models. ive got a 6.5 x14 6 lug, a 4x15 6 lug, and a 5x14 8 lug like yours with out the tuxedo! I had another one like it that bob carey owns now.
