I acquired these two Oaklawn drums a year ago for free. They're in pretty decent condition, just missing a few tension rods and the kick drum feet. The sizes are 20x14 kick drum and 16x16 floor tom in Gold Moire. I haven't played them yet since I'm missing parts but I've read online that Oaklawn era Camco's are some of the best sounding kits you can buy. But I'm thinking about selling or trading them because I don't really have the money to shell out for a period correct rack tom, not to mention I couldn't even find one for sale online. How much could I possibly get for these? Wrap isn't faded, chrome has minimal pitting, bearing edges look good, and its got original kick heads and cases for both drums. Like I said it's only missing one or two tension rods, a T rod, and kick drum legs. And rack tom. No extra drilling that I know of. I'd rather sell or trade these to someone who will restore and enjoy these drums and get a vintage luddy or gretsch for myself to play. Any idea on wha I should ask for them?

Aren't you in the process of a major thinning of your herd? lol :)
Oaklawns are irresistible.
$1,000 for the bass drum, $500 for the floor? Just wild guess. Could be more. I have a grey moire kit. Scrubbing Bubbles aside, those will only increase in value. Good luck!
Larryz: I know! I got the tom for these thats why Im interested! Im still in the process of thinning my herd…But is just too much!

Anyone else know if this is the right ballpark? I mean I've seen kits same as mine with a rack tom going for 2 or 3 grand, I would think 1500 to 2 grand would be reasonable for the incomplete set.

It's all about condition, and completeness of a kit when it comes to setting prices. If those two drums were in 'complete' and pristine condition, you could ask for that kind of money and (maybe) get it. The missing rack tom takes away from the value of the other two drums. Do you have any idea how hard it's going to be for a potential buyer to find a matching rack tom? Do you have any idea how much he/she will hve to pay for it if they do find it?
You have to provide some asking price incentive for a potential buyer to make the deal irresistible. Whoever buys em, will have to hunt down original missing parts and then the long wait for a rack tom to show up begins. Price accordingly if you really want to sell them.

I agree with John...everything he says is true. If you really want to sell the 2 drums then you'll have to price them appropriate to their condition and lack of completeness. They have potential as a 'future' full kit, but it will probably take the buyer an awful long time, and quite a few bucks to complete it.
