What to do? Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Found a pair of Premier spurs/brackets I needed in Canada the other day...

Guy said he would do to my door for $30....which is a smoking deal...

I told him he would lose a bit on the P-P deal,so he said to add $2,which I did..

Got a email last night saying they shipped, but cost $10 more then he thought..

He didn't ask me to send the difference, but I think he was hinting for me to do that...

What would you do?

He did state $30 to my door, and I offered $2 more then I had to....

Thanks..

Hi, Blair!

I think if I needed the items, $10.00 more doesn't sound too bad. The seller seems like a stand up guy.

I didn't know you were in Canada, Blair ( so am I). Happy Canada Day to you!!!

Whenever you quote shipping...... it is your risk. There are good guesses and bad guesses. Honest people try to keep that very very close to even. Dishonest people make up for bad guesses by gouging the shipping loss from the next sale.

I won a 26 inch Ludwig bass drum on ebay once. Shipping was quoted. I emailed a few times on the shipping because it could not be right, no matter what the scenario. When the package arrived, it was a 28 slingerland. I was out less than 30 bucks on the whole deal. I exchanged emails with the seller and she paid 126 bucks to ship the drum. There was no way I was going to ship that back for less than 30. Could I have made up that shipping difference? Probablly. But it did not happen.

I think when sellers make slight mistakes in shipping estimates, one should consider what is fair, and weigh it out. Doing the right thing is always good. Sometimes it is the right thing to do, sometimes, its totally on the bad guesses of the shipper.

The 'old-fashioned' way of saying it is; 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you...'

man, I hate to sound the cynical scrooge here but why don't you wait and see what the shipping charges are first, if the carges are even listed. Your item is a pretty standard size and weight item and $10 is a big difference as far as minimal shipping charges go. But then again we're talking $10.

I have a guy that wants me to send him $520 to his "son in England" for 3 Buck Rogers snare stands that I have never even seen a picture of and he doesn't understand why I have a problem with this potential transaction.

Why would I "trust" this person I have never met to be straight up?

I have very definately learned that the drumming community is a very small and tight group and I make sure that my end is straight forward, but I have also learned that the other end is not always concerned about this tight community. If the charges really are higher, is that your fault? I'm sure you would have gladly paid $10 more had that cost been presented on the onset.

If I tell you I will roof your house for $6,000.00...great price, and into the job I say I need another $1,200 for material I didn't know I needed, what would you do? Not everyone is honest...............................
