If you decide to look into cymbals, allow me to introduce you to a Turkish cymbal company that makes very high quality and affordable cymbals: Istanbul/Agop, or Mehmet cymbals. Check out the site... do some window shopping. :Dhttp://istanbulcymbals.com/products.htmlI'm not just hyping a company either, I own four cymbals from them and they are the best I've ever owned. Like getting a $1500 K for $350!It's always huge fun looking for and thinking about stuff to spend your money on!John

Definitely *not* to poop on your suggestion, but if I had 500 bucks for cymbals, nothing could keep me from them Keropes!

I like living in a place where that isn't a decision people get to make. Each to their own. I'd get the drum.

I agree with Cam...

Here in Canada they aren't needed...

Keeps the (Mmmmmm...accident killings to an all time low) lololol

I guess being a girl in the states is a different world, then here in Canada.

Just my opinion, drums don't hurt anybody...other then maybe ears..lol

Some people may think that guns are only purchased for one reason, and it is to shoot another person.

I know that target shooting with a gun can be the same as target shooting with a bow. It is a legitimate and enjoyable sport, and I myself own both guns and bows.

I have never used either to harm another person, and I will bet Robyn also has not.

Many people are uneasy seeing someone else posses a gun, regardless of any knowledge of that gun owners sense of safety, responsibility, maturity, intention, and level of common sense.

There are a great number of people who should not be allowed to own guns, but all too often those in charge of that decision, and society in general, are unwilling to single those people out. They see mental illness as a problem that should sympathized with, and not be stigmatized.

When it comes to owning guns, there has to be people that are singled out as not able to do so, and it not just convicted felons, it is the mentally unstable among other people.

People who simply enjoy the shooting sports should not be among those denied the right to own firearms, and there should be no reason to assume they will hurt themselves or others.

Robyn, put the money towards whichever you want, and don't be shamed or bullied because of the pressure or opinions of people who don't really know you, and should have no say in your freedom to do what you decide.

robyn - That Premier kit idea isn't half bad! I think you'd like the sound of a 60's Premier and you already have that floor tom. Robyn, do you have a Supraphonic? Those are wonderful snare drums. Or how about a Rogers Dynasonic! Either one of those could be purchased for less than 500.00, I mean you don't have to spent the whole 500 right? Take a look at the ( Im sure you already have) "show your snare collection" thread going, some guys only have 5 or 6 snare drums but they are really impressive and don't require a ton of space, just thinking.

Thank you!

Someone wants to buy you a $500 goodie.

Hmm. The original choices were project drum kit and compact semi-auto pistol, but it looks like the choices have opened up.

One of my favorite philosophers, Piet Hein, wrote:

A PSYCHOLOGICAL TIP

Whenever you're called on to make up your mind,

and you're hampered by not having any,

the best way to solve the dilemma, you'll find,

is simply by spinning a penny.

No -- not so that chance shall decide the affair

while you're passively standing there moping;

but the moment the penny is up in the air,

you suddenly know what you're hoping.

You're asking a vintage drum forum, which tips your hand!

You didn't list any COB models or Slingerlands amongst your snare collection.

How about a Slingerland Gene Krupa Sound King?
