My will has everything going to my wife. Otherwise to my step daughter if I'm last man standing. This talk has made me think maybe I should designate a few people who are knowledgeable in vintage drums and cymbals to help with the selling of things. I do keep a spreadsheet which has date, price I paid, description, serial number (if any) etc. for everything. In most cases it even has an indication of current value, so that whoever is looking after things will be able to tell the difference between something which ought to go for $100 and something which ought to go for $1000. I do recommend having an inventory like this if you don't currently have one. Mind you, I haven't got so much stuff it would is a huge undertaking.
I do look ahead and think that I'm likely to end up selling the house and big garden and moving into a small retirement apartment somewhere, and at that point the drums and cymbals and percussion stuff will have to go anyway due to lack of space.
