Hey, good thinking!

My better half has not once complained about the crazy buying, selling, trading that I do. Not once. Even the time I bought a Gretsch kit during a blowout sale, picked it up days later at the UPS location, THEN told her about them... She encourages my hobby. Heck, she knows where I am at least - upstairs in the drum room :)
Wives.. women... after 35 years still a complete mystery..
two cases in point. My wife suggested I get a studio built.. not just use a room (already have one of those), but build a second story addition on top of the garage. I get the builder in and get quotes of about $35k.. no problem, just do it she says.. (cool!), at the same time I suggest I need a new kit, nothing too outrageous.. maybe $2k. WHAT!!!!! I already have two kits how many more do you need????? So I retreat.. no studio, no kit.
I eventually get a new kit, no issues, no questions.. drop $5k on a 7 piece bespoke bubinga Sleishman.. but don't get the snare with it and I'm a happy chappy. A couple of months later she asks why the snare I'm using on a gig (an acro) doesn't match the kit.. before I come up with an answer she tells me I should get a matching one. Yes dear if I have too.. $700 later I've a new snare.
Go figure
Roy summed it up...

IF I say anything about a drum I get that look that means "your going to spend money!?!"
……..of course I don't have to ask, I just do it to be nice! Thats my story!

Not to worry. Last year for our 10 yr anniversary, I had a custom wedding band made to match her wedding/engagement ring. Surprised her the same way I proposed with the ring tied around a rubber duck in a hot tub. She was just as shocked the second time. My problem is now I don't know what I'll do for our 20th. Luckily, I've got 10 years to think about it...
Oh man, thanks for that! I hadn't heard this tune before. Roy Orbison was one for the ages.

Hah... That just fell into place for me.. I am rehearsing currently for an Orbison tribute show and had just been working on that song when this thread popped up... you are right .. much of his work is timeless..
Cheers

I don't envy the vocalist his job! Tough act to follow and really big shoes to fill!
Sounds like a blast! Get somebody to record some of the show for You Tube so we can check it out.
Break a leg!
