Purdie it sure is....

The vocalist is what this show is all about.. I have been listening to "The Big O" from my school kid days and have always had a soft spot for his ballads... Saw him live a couple of times as well.. IMO the front man for this show is one of the very few who has the capacity to pull off those big notes properly.. and also to look the part (minus 2 hours of makeup). I saw this show a few years ago and watched him really grab hold of the audience. He has studied Roy for about 10 years and comes very, very close to the mark.. So I am looking forward to doing this one.

Gotta say that.. Roy's departure from the music scene left me colder than that of Lennon's, or any other music icon for that matter...

Cheers

Here is the dude in question.. I think this was shot with a "Box Brownie"

He's got the chops! What I'm genuinely impressed with is his mastery of the American accent! He 'sounds just like' one of us! I smiled when I heard the Aussie accent when he spoke in between numbers. Not only has he nailed Orbison, he's nailed the American accent perfectly. Not easy for any 'fer-ner' to do!

'Love Hurts' one of my favorite tunes. The Everly Bros. and the Emmy Lou Harris/Graham Parsons versions are the definitive renditions, but this cat does a respectable job doing it as Orbison. -I'm properly impressed!-

Purdie,

Not so hard for Ozzies of my generation reared listening to American music to pull off the accent.. We were also brought up with John Wayne & Co at the movies and Ed "Kookie" Burns laying the "Skin Me Daddio" stuff on the box. I cracked quite a few yanks up while in the US with my Joe Walsh impressions... The front man was actually born in the UK but raised in Oz & has spent a couple of years in the US.. Whilst I have not done the show with him before, he is a lifetime buddy... My Best Man & Godfather to my eldest son..

And he does a great Presley too...

Cheers
