jonnistix, theres no need to apoligize. I never realized there were so many vintage MIJ drums produced except Pearls. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to MIJ drums but you have tweaked my interest in their sound. I am in negotiations over an early 60s set of Ludwigs that a friends mothers, sister had but I don,t feel to confident about the negotiations as she is now( I think ) planning on keeping them. But I have a line on a set of MIJ drums in a pawn shop near me an will be checking on them later.

Sorry about your brother. I do like the father son connection you have, as I have a son that has been very succesfull in the field of percussion. We had many drum battles together. He is way ahead of me now.

3k and it's not the perfect drum? Dang. That's just intense. I'm not sure how to respond to that.

Great pics. Thanks for sharing!

I've just got to ask what you actually do with a $3,000 snare drum?

Will it EVER be played or is it strictly to display in a safe location in your residence or studio? Just wondering since I'll never be in a position to spend that much on one drum. I can only imagine the pristine condition of the entire kit!

These auctions turn my stomach. Freekin' human greed. Sickening.

30 bids....it's what the market brought...the seller did nothing wrong...just my opinion.

nobody did anything 'wrong'. all was above board. these kinds of things are just beyond my realm of understanding. it's my hangup to deal with. again, everybody did things on the level.

i'm in that minority of human existence that doesn't have television or read biased newspapers or vote along strict party lines or drop huge sums of money for the perfect drum ... though, i might be willing to compromise on that last one ... if the stars were aligned just right and someone else was footin' the bill as a gift.
