OK I am breathing again.

OldSchool - Thank you for your generosity. Very rare these days.

I pm'd you - but your inbox is apparently too full and I couldn't get my message through.

I want that clip. But I think I should buy it from you because it's something that you may end up needing yourself, and then you'd have to pay for one.

Could you get your pm inbox opened up again?

Farnes: Now that you're breathing again, feel free to drop me a PM. I just cleared out some of my older messages.

Sorry for the inconvenience.DOH

The "free of charge" offer still stands. After all, if we don't look out for eachother, who will?

Hi Farnes,Very nice score you got today..I also love the sound of the bass drums most of the time the bass drums are 27 1/2" but to fine a 28" bass how cool is that...On the last photo of the leather tips those are tabs that would go on a rope tension snare drum they would side up and down on the rope to put tension on the heads,The rope would look like a "U" in shape.Rope tension snare's were made too about 1910 or so...These parts are very hard to fine i would hang on to them you will fine someone that could use them...Mikey

OldSchool -- I'm looking for a snare drum rim clip. I'm holding my breath right now.

I have an extra one leftover from my Leedy restoration if you need anymore. I think it may be a Radio King rim clip as it didn't match the other Leedy ones that came on the particular drum I took it off of, although it could be Ludwig & Ludwig.......The Leedy kit has since been sold and I don't have any other drums from this era, so if you need one still it is yours.....not to undermine oldschool, just putting the offer out there as well. :D

vmore -- The kick does have two small spurs mounted onto the hoop. I was thinking that this might mean that the bass drum was a marching drum that with add-on spurs for use in a trap set.Gilnar - thank you for the congrats. My wife and I go yard saling a lot. What we do is to make sure we get out of the house before sunrise, and start driving around to the sales we're interested in even though we're hours early to the adv'd start time and try to catch folks as they're just setting up.510 -- Thanks for the great Ludwig snare thread link. The snares are not Ludwig. They say "Snappi-Snares, James Pat. 1207825"Here's the snare logo:

Farnes - Based on the Ludwig catalogue and advertising documents. Your snare is likely to be an “All Metal Separate Tension” model from 1922 (It is possible it is from 1921 but without a catalogue or Ludwig ad from that year being available I wouldn’t say for sure. A 1922 ad reads “A new flanged counter hoop...” etc). In 1923 the catalogues mention 8 lugs as standard. They were standard 6 luggers prior to that and before 1922 (1921?) those 6 luggers weren’t depicted with single flanged hoops. Your snare does appear to have the 2 piece/ 4 seam shell also. The available catalogues and ads only depict that style (6 lug, single flange hoops) for one year 1922.

Where is the logo located in relation to the snare lever (strainer) on your drum?

Hey Farnes, the 1922 logo for the all metal seperate tension drum is in a circle with ludwig ludwig chicago all in the circle! not the way your logo is on the rim, this is from page #9 ludwig 1922 catalog, also in the 1923 ludwig catalog on page #2 the all metal seperate tension model shown is an 8 lug model with ludwig engraved on the shell beside the p338 strainer both 1922 and 1923 have single flange rims! Farnes your drum is probably a 1923 model!!! take a pic of the strainer and logo!

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

vintagemore2000 - Have you seen the ad I found that Ludwig published in the circa Dec. 2, 1922 Music Trade Review magazine? It even depicts the Deluxe model as a 6 lugger and claims it’s “The new Deluxe model”. It mentions “A new flanged counter hoop...” too.

We shouldn’t forget here that Farnes drum is a 6 lugger.

The second paragraph on pg .2 in the 1923 catalogues mentions that the “improvements” were:

Here is the quote:

“With new and distinctive features – recently incorporated making it an advance and improvement over all other models. Has eight rods, new flanged type non-rusting counter hoop.”
