62' Ludwigs (First Time Post) Last viewed: 4 hours ago

First time poster, not a new drummer but this is my first Vintage kit.

I have had my eye on these for a long time.

Bought a set of 62' Ludwigs today from a guy I have known most of my life. His parents got them for him for Christmas in 1962. They have original cases and trap case. $400.00 for all of it. There are a few issues as you can see the bass head was removed and only 2 of the hoop mounts are left and the hoop looks to be out of round. The bottom tom rim is with the kit but the tension rods are gone. Should be easy to fix up. Not looking to sell em' just looking to get them up to speed and play the crap out of them. Just looking for some feed back from some guys who know…

This place is cool! Happy to be here!

Very nice. Like the red sparkle color. I have a 65 Jazzette (18" bass drum) and it is awesome to play. You'll enjoy the process of fixing these up and giving them a new life. I have developed a passion for it now. Cheers.

The kit is worth 2x's + what you paid for it! Good buy. The missing parts are easy to find, place an ad in the wanted section with a list of the parts you need. I'm sure somebody here will have them. A round of new heads wouldn't hurt either. You did good. That's a classic Ludwig kit in a killer finish. Fix/clean them up and then beat the hell out of them!

Welcome to VDF!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

The snare alone is worth more than $400. Is this snare chrome over brass or ludalloy shell?

Either way, $400 for all of this. I would say SCORE!Keep on Pl

I'm thinking the snare...is a solid $400 by its self..

very nice set at a great price. Being a 62 the snare may be a COB Super and worth quite a bit more than a standard Supra. More photos please.

In my country those snare go for about 400 €URO that's about 540 of your US dollars.

Sorry if I sound a bit like Borat.

You did very well there. Keep that kit and enjoy it. Easily worth two to three times what you paid. The guys here can help you sort out parts.
