very nice super classic kit it appears. this is the way to find them. everything looks period correct. that's a nice wfl 1121 hi hat stand in the last design with the conventional feet. only made those for a short period of time. looks like a wfl speed king. cymbal looks tasty! probably 50's on that. if that's the original snare, chances are it may be brass. find the right parts and do this one right. it deserves it. congratulations.

Thanks! Yes the cymbals are Zildjians and came with the kit. First saw them about 1990 and have wanted them ever since. Here are a couple more photos.

Amazing. You did really, really well. If you have time, can you post a pic of the snare throw-off? We want to see if the snare beds are crimped!

Wow! Great looking kit. Based on the close up of that snare, it looks like there isn't any pitting in the chrome. Is the snare heavy? If both of these are true, there is a very good chance that the snare is chrome over brass (COB). ;) If you take the bottom head off, check for crimped snare beds. They will almost look like someone smashed the bottom of the drum. This is another indicator that the shell is COB.

When you're ready to clean the snare or any of the drums, please do not use anything abrasive like steel wool. Do some searches on the forum for cleaning techniques.

This is going to be an awesome kit.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Wow...what a score, man! I guess you can say it was 24 years in the making, right? Nothing I can say that the other members haven't about parts and such, so welcome to the club!

Awesome! Good chance that snare is C.O.B. finish looks fantastic and no pitting. Crimped snare bed would be the next thing to check out for sure.

Killer red sparkle! Yes, that looks like a brass Supra to me. (See www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajWv4NoQQac at 18:58 and www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=45231)

As thornbeck said, no steel wool on the chrome (especially the snare). I really like Mothers Chrome Polish. It's going to be a "beaut"!
