About to give up Last viewed: 49 seconds ago

Well, finally had an old buddy who I used to jam with come over and do a little jamin. It was fun and it gave me some confidence. I was really getting kinda bored just playing drums all by myself so I called him up. Were gonna try and get together once a week just for fun, no real plans ao starting a band yet. The last time we played together was 1985, the Bears won the super bowl LOL!

Thank you!

Glad to hear you got to have some fun making a joyful noise! No matter what your playing level, having another musician turn around and grin at you while playing is a feeling hard to beat. Keep it going and stay enthusiastic...you have something to say on those drums! Oh, and regarding the '85 Bears...as a lifelong Dolphins fan, beating the Bears in '85 was one of the few highlights for me that season! Have fun and all the best to you!

i know how you feel jeff, i finally got to jam with my brother a cup'l nights ago, we jammed out 3 or 4 tunes and michael kept looking over at me just a smiling:D he says to me...damn girl! wanna start a band!? that was his way of telling me all the banging i'm doing is paying off and that i am getting better. thinking of giving him a hollar later and seeing if he would want to jam a few tomarrow.

I would suggest this to everyone. If you are able to find a little ice house/bar that does open mic jams in the afternoons or evenings in your area, go and play there! Playing with as many musicians as possible will better your playing tremendously. Playing at these can also help you to get paying gigs in your area. Musicians talk... when people need a drummer to fill in on blues/rock/country gig chances are you will make it somewhere in the rotation.

Blues musicians love a simple drummer!! don't go in and try to impress by playing a bunch of fill-ins and non sense. Just learn to lay down a groove, use dynamics... you'll be surprised at the reaction you get.. .and the gigs will follow!

Justin, that is in the plans. I just need a little more time to improve. But eventually I want to do that. We also have a place here called The Redstone Room and they have several different gatherings for open jams, classes and such. I also know of a bar that has an open stage on Thursdays. And blues is what I like, I would love to be in a band with a Delbert Mclinton, Tommy Castro flavor. Drums, base , lead/rhythm guitar and some horns!

By the way, you guys are great inspiration to continue improving, we don’t need Kate Bush video, lol! ( I don’t even know who that is)

Thank you!
