From Purdie Shuffle

I think Tommy & Dave will forgive me for posting this off-topic thread after they see this video!I'm 65 years old. I've been playing drums and listening to other drummers for half a century. I'm here to testify that I have never heard a drummer as good as this guy! No 'over the top' exaggerating on my part. Just listen. Dylan Elise, who I had never heard of until yesterday, is simply one of the most amazing drummers I've seen or heard. Form your own opinions. This guy is a chops and groove Master Extraordinaire! Enjoy...http://youtu.be/b4n6CZYoDS0John

The bestest ..... to some. We got some white bucket guys in Haymarket this do this kinda stuff. He`s really good at it. I like the HH video.

What he is playing in the first video is just short of white buckets and pans.

Anybody know what they are ?

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

All I can make out is that it's a home-made jungle kit built out of snare drums - just for the streets.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Wow!

I enjoy watching amazing drummers like this one. I'm a medioker drummer at best but I can SO appreciate this kind of talent. I can see and understand the incredible drumming here as anyone can that has put in the hours 'woodsheding' over the years.

Thanks for posting this.

That was very skilful in every aspect with an aim toward showmanship of the first order. It is sad that he did not seem to be receiving reasonable contributions for his work and the overall level of entertainment he provided that crowd. Guys in the Boston subways and Central Park seem to do much better.

As to his kit:

At least the four pieces consisting of one of the ride toms, the bass, the “floor” and snare are from a manufactured set, and a nice one at that. I’m less certain of the pieces to the left of the three-tom array.

I had a small DW/Pacific set like that a decade ago that I used for a short period of time with a band in Cairo before I could manage to get a full kit out there one piece at a time. They are pretty handy and very easy to travel with.

And, no, I cannot do any of what he was doing whether with the small kit or the regular one. Very talented indeed and one heck of a timekeeper!

I would imagine that he was born with a certain amount of god given talent coupled with thousands of hours practice time. the man has chops for sure. I dare say that he probably attracts his fair share of female companionship as evidenced in the first vid. Drums are hard for me. He makes it look so effortless just like all the greats do.

Taye has a Go Kit that has a similar looking bass drum with really small toms, solid kit, not cheap.
