James that's promising to hear thanks! I wouldn't know how to tell the JP2 vs Drumatix handle apart either. SlingerLynn had a JP2 handle on his 58 RK but he traded that kit for the Barrett Deems RK kit he has now.

Yes a real pia to switch the casings around and get the whole thing re centered. LOL oh well wouldn't be the first time I've had this whole thing apart. I'm getting good at it now.

Got the extention today in the mail. They are very nice and solid brass. Nicely made. It does not go into the handle as is. It starts to go in then hangs up on something. I need to take the handle off and get a closer look and to fit it correctly. A burr or something but should not be a big deal hopefully. More to come. Been a long day at work so I'll hit this tomorrow afternoon.

Well mine was not as easy and everone elses. LOL but things rarely are easy with me sometimes.......

I took everything apart (need to swap sides on the throw and tension had them backwards on the shell) and no way it was going to fit as is. Tools of choice were 2 fine rat tail files and fine and super fine 3M wet/dry emory cloth. The files removed some material to start inside the handle. And the emory cloth rolled in small bits on a small phillips screwdriver to finish. Took almost 2 hours a very slow tedious job. I had to go slow to prevent removing too much material inside the handle. But the end result is a nice sliky smooth slide in fit. :) I'll get the drum back together tomorrow after work and post some pics. Here's a few of the handle and extension during and finished. Whew!

Nice work! Sorry that it was not so easy, but glad it turned it well in the end. It really is a cool little peice.

Looks good Glenn. Sorry you had to go to so much trouble. Since you're in contact with Emory, maybe you could suggest that he make future handles large enough to accommodate the arm? Both of my Radio Kings ('53 WMP Gene Krupa and '40s BDP Cloud Badge) have the original strainer handles, and I had no trouble with either extension arm. Don't know how cool he'd be changing his product to accommodate a competitor, but you never know. Looking forward to seeing the drum all together.

Finished. Drum went together smoothly with no snags. I'm getting very good at setting up these clamshells now. I can do them in my sleep. Yes my snare has old RK stick choppers on it which I love~! Our cat Strat never misses a photo op too. ;)

The extension took a little work to fit. But the strainer handle has a nice finished look to it with the extension. Thanks to Scott at Olympic Drums and Emory at Drumatix for making these parts. Nice to have them available. There's so few parts made for them.

Great looking drum! I think the old stick choppers add character. Looks like your cat agrees!

This is a genuine, original lever extension. The two slots enable precise tension adjustment (from my 1940 Super RK)

It looks like a part from an old surgical or draftsman's device.
