hey guys, got the lit'l doohicky today. ran into a lit' problem tho, it is too big around to fit inside of the tube.if it were just a bit smaller i think it would do the trick. im thinking of doing some grinding :)

I will prevail!

Wow that is a narrow tube! Grinding should work, but don't forget these are just drillpress drill bit stoppers, cheap and there's probably a size that would be perfect - as I recall the ID on the one I sent is a little large for the purpose, so one with a smaller OD would probably fit the rod even better.

HA! I did it ! i fixed that s*o*b, yes i did ! works pretty darn good too.

i did not use the doohicky that mitch sent to me, but i did use his idea tho. thanks mitch.

the doohicky is too big around to fit into the stand tube, was thinking of grinding it to a smaller diameter but just didnt feel like taking the time to do so. instead i decided to look thru all the coffee cans of doohickies and whatchamacallits i have, and came across this tube type thingy that was the perfect size to slide over the rod and exactly the same diameter and thickness of the spring, and a litebalb lit up. humm...spacer. yeah thats what i need. so this lit'l doomajiger tube thing will serve the same purpose as the doohicky will, which is to compress the spring a bit more so that it has more strenth to spring and for less of the rod to be pulled down. are you guys folloing me on this? hope im explaining myself well enough. i slid the doomajiger on the rod under the crimps of the rod then put the sring on and put the pedal back together and it bounced like a baby.

im gonna take it apart ONE more time to grease it up a lit'l better. if you guys want me to add a few pictures, i will. oh and Mitch...you want the doohicky back? :)

robyn - Reading your description above reminded me of this guy: He's hilarious, Canadian guy that has a channel over at You Tube. I've never been able to make out more than two words in a row that he says. He speaks a language he invented for himself. Funny stuff. (So was your description!)

A simple and elegant fix Robyn, glad to hear it's back up to snuff. You may keep the doohickey as a reminder of our time on this thread...:)
