not to start a war here but i find DW drums have some sort of a funky sound Jason had these drums sounding a bit flat to me but hey the song more than carried the whole thing...

sound engineer should be slapped silly and i believe the beginning is a loop of when the levee breaks...

From Gilnar

Just few bands I can remember right now - Wolfmother, Hogjaw, Stonefield, Royal Thunder. They're all completely different, but each and everyone of rocks hard.I recommend you this great webcomic, it's called 3chorddorks.com - aside from being quite funny, the author also often mentions contemporary bands he likes. There's still lot of hard rock'n'roll out there, it's just not in the mainstream anymore.

There is a lot of good rock coming from non-US sources. My favorite would be The Hellacopters from Sweden. They started in 1995 with a punk Detroit sound but slowly turned into a good old fashioned rock band. High Visibility and By the Grace of God are good places to start. If you want it a little harder, check out Payin' the Dues. Sadly they broke up a few years back but luckily they recorded a boat load of music. The drummer does a lot of swinging Mitch Mitchell style fills. Great stuff.

Perhaps you guys have not heard of the band DADA. They are the best trio anywhere in the last 20 years - these guys were just born to make music together. So rich in style and tasty tasty songwriting - I'd say they "rock" .......as you guys long for.

I'm sorry - I just thought of another band you guys would totally love (those longing for the heavier stuff) - BIG WRECK. Great stuff.
