Andrew; not dismissing your knowledge at all. This is how I learn stuff. So - if this kit has re-rings and a Granitone interior - it's 3 ply? Would that be a safe bet? Also on the value of the kit - it's very neglected. If someone really wanted 13/14/16/18/24 - as you propose - yes, it would be desirable. The complete hardware makes this kit worth anything. But the seller has been trying to sell it for years and quite a few good restorers have passed. I'm guessing they offered more than $1000. But I don't want to break up the kit and that is precisely why it's worth less to me. Cheers, PK.

All good. Yes, re-rings and granitone is a safe 3 ply bet. The wrap issues mean it'll always only be a players kit but I do like the fact that it appears to be a complete catalog kit http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/ludwig_sets/1975_ludwig_drumsets6.jpg

Looking at the last photo, it seems that the floor tom wrap is split also? I wouldn't pay more than $500 myself...

can we assume you don't live in Australia? Besides, $500 would be a good deal in America considering it has a Supra and a bunch of A's surely. But yeah, there looks to be a split or separated seam on the Floor tom.

Also we are talking Aussie dollars (I think) which makes the discussed $1k about $US750 and the seller wants the equivalent of $1500USD - just to put it in context.

Andrew is spot-on - Ludwig vintage drums are quite rare and fairly expensive here. As I said - all the wrap is shot. I wanted to strip the kit to a nice players kit and because it's complete, keep it together. But it's s big job. I made an offer but I don't think the owner really wants to sell - or needs the money, despite what he told me. The Supra is pretty bad too. It would still sound good, but I'm trying to limit my purchases to kits that either need no work; or are cheap enough to warrant the work. I wasn't trying to steal this kit - it's a mess and I know what a restoration like that costs in time and dollars. Not cheap here in Australia.
