Glenn,
I just about died laughing when I read your post! I NEVER had one of those wigs, but I remember wanting one so bad it hurt!
"Beatlemania" hit our little community after that first Ed Sullivan Show appearence. Almost every classroom in our elementary school had some sort of tribute set up in their room. My room (which was a combination 3rd and 4th grades) had construction paper cutouts of them up on one wall -- life sized! Our school even had an assembly where four of us, properly attired, lip-sinked a performance. We even had the guitars and drums! I remember really being upset with the kid who was "Paul" -- as he was right-handed and refused to play his guitar as a left-hander!! That disturbed me for years!

Hi Bill. Yes I had a Beatle flashback when I saw the kid wearing the wig. LoLoLoLo Awww boy I remember my Dad laughing at me when he came home and saw that. He thought I was nuts!! Anything and everything Beatles was a instant hit and flew off the store shelves. ;)
Yes Glenn-it is a Beatle wig one of the kids is wearing(my nephew)-guess it dates the photo and i`ve got a Beatles cap on my head, lol.Maybe this could be another thread...
Looks like this thread is winding down and just wanted to add a pic of my toy tin drums i got for Christmas in 56`-played em` a couple of mos.and lost interest-i was 6...They got put away til` "The Beatles" arrived in 64`and out they came. It consisted of a middle drum(floor tom type with nylon head) and two smaller side drums with pics of natives under palm trees on the cardboard type heads (Note the running shoe on the middle drum head). I didn`t really know what a snare drum was but i knew how it sounded, so i improvised...The running shoe had a loose flap of rubber coming off the side of the sole which laid flat on the nylon head and when the head was struck it would vibrate in a 'fast decay' flutter sound producing what i thought was a snare drum sound, lol.Amazing as kids how we improvise, even to make a snare sound...
OK, this pic is the winner! Takes you back to the days of being a kid and just plain ole havin fun, priceless! Thanks for putting a smile on my very stressed out face.
My red Sears drums Chtistmas 1966.That is a 12" ride.I mowed many lawns to buy a Sears 16" "Kingston" ride later.I still have the Kingston to this day.
