I'll definitely be looking. I can't see how someone could unload a set like that.

Unless these are in a shipping container on their way to another country, a 63' Gold Sparkle Leedy is going to stick out like a sore thumb. Please post pictures and/or tell us the configuration. Plus any unique features. Did Leedy have serial numbers at this time?
As was mentioned in a previous thread, write your name and address on a small pieces of paper, fold them up and put them on the insides of one lug on each drum. I know this is not going to help in this situation, but it might for other members in the future.
You've come to the best place for help and have increased your chances for recovery. I hope this story has a positive ending.

Someone on another forum posted this ad he saw:
"Attention So. Cal. Musicians and friends of Musicians!! 1963 Leedy drum set, silver sparkle, stolen!!
The silver sparkle 1963 Leedy drum kit pictured below was recently stolen from our car parked in our driveway in NE Torrance. This kit has a lot of sentimental value to Brad, my whole family, and me since it belonged to my late father who bought it brand new in 1963 and played it for many years. Brad is also quite attached to this kit and has rarely played his other drums since we got this one.
New Note: The kit can sometimes look like Gold sparkle depending on the lighting and it now has black drum heads on it, not the white ones pictured below.
Along with the kit several Zildjan cymbals, a Shure vocal mic, rok n' sok drum throne, and several other accessories were stolen.
I know it's a long shot, but please SHARE this with your musician friends in case they happen to see it for sale at a music store or on craig's list, etc. I doubt there are a lot of '63 Leedy kits like this one for sale in the area so it should be easy to identify if it's out there.
If anyone finds anything that can help us recover these drums, please send me a private message or reply to this thread or call one of us if you have our number.
It would mean the world to us to get them back."
Is this the same kit? Why the differences?

Yes, that add was placed by a friend of mine when he heard the news. There seems to be debate about silver vs gold sparkle. They look gold to me, but my wife says silver. It may depend on the light or maybe my eyes are worse than I though. I am still looking for pics that I can link to. I should have some later today.

Leedy,
Sounds like you're taking all the right steps to stop the easy sale and fencing of this stolen set, but I didn't see you mention filing a police report. I certainly hope you did. Pawn shops and second-hand music shops are usually very careful not to accept any items which they know are stolen (for good reason, they're out the money they paid the thief).
As has been pointed out by many members, your Leedy set is too distinct to change hands without someone in the vintage community noticing. I not only hope these drums find their way back into your hands, I hope they catch the vile, lowlife scumbag who stole them. Such vermin should not be running around loose sucking up our air.
Where are the pics of this set?
