My Leedy Drums - Stolen Last viewed: 0 seconds ago

Finally got a pic to post. I filed a police report as soon as I noticed they were gone. they even sent a forensics unit to my house to take finger prints and a mold of a footprint that was left in the yard next to my car.

Here are my babies :(

it's a 12 inch rack tom, 16 inch floor, 20 inch kick, 14 x 5 inch snare. Black evans heads on the striking side of the toms and a clear head on the striking side of the kick, with a sold black outter head on the kick. They are in real good shape, so they don't have distinguishing marks. They do have a stamp on the inside of the shells that says "NOV 63"

Sorry Leedy. Though I can't imagine living with that theft on my conscience.

I really feel for you. Similar story here. Home at 2:30; gig the next morning so I took my cymbals inside. All gone (alarm was broken) Scrounged together a kit (in those days I had one!) Few months later, my wife called me with good news. Drug police raided a den and found my drums along with 40 TV's, 25 lawnmowers, 2 cars; rooms and rooms of stuff - all run by a 16 year old who was trading smack for stolen goods. Strange thing is that first man through the door after the ram was a distant cousin (I did not know him) Shortly afterwards someone called out that they had found a set of drums in cases with his name on them (well, mine too) The funny thing is that a woman had paid a deposit on my kit and turned up wanting to know who would refund it! The cops said "Does this look like Target?" (Wallmart) Cured me of leaving in cars.

Anyway, I never lost hope in seeing my drums again. Good luck mate, you never know.

Wow, what a gorgeous set. I have been very lucky. I once left a $800 GonBop conga just outside the parking lot elevator at a restraunt and the bartender happened to see it when they were leaving and put it in her car. I didn't even miss it for 2 days until I was unloading my van. Twice I have left the back door up on my Chrysler town and country. Once with my Gretsch jazz kit in there. The back was facing the street too. Still there the next morning. The second time the back was to the garage with my keyboards and PA System. My whole live rig.

Have to watch that. I hope your drums turn up. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I just found an add on craigslist with these drums in the picture. I think these are them. It's someone in San Diego who says they buy vintage drums. They have different heads on them and it's missing one of the rings for the kick drum, but that could just be a method of changing the looks. Got a call into the detectives now.

You're correct. Mine are Leedy. I didn't notice that these were Ludwigs. How can you tell they are Ludwig? I started looking closer and noticed some subtle differences with the tom tom mount.

Sorry about the loss of your beloved Leedy's. Everyone is correct that it will be tough to get rid of a Leedy kit. Not many of these around not to raise an eyebrow if one comes up on CL, GC, eBay, etc.

I'm sure all of us have our own ideas of what we'd like to do with this scumbag!

Unless these are in a shipping container on their way to another country, a 63' Gold Sparkle Leedy is going to stick out like a sore thumb. Please post pictures and/or tell us the configuration. Plus any unique features. Did Leedy have serial numbers at this time?

I'm bummed to hear this...Won't add any expletives....I will keep my eyes peeled for ads on this side of the border.
