That Palm Springs set was super clean and came with lots of goodies, but even though I could have picked them up to save shipping, it went above what I could afford. So I'll invest some money into the Texas kit and still probably not spend what I budgeted for the Palm Springs kit.

Realistically, I should sell my clear Vistalites, but that's a bridge to be crossed later.

In the meantime, what snare should I use with the Slingerland Phantoms? Clear Vistalite 5.5x14 or Slingerland TDR 5.5x14?

I just went to look at the Palm Springs Phantom set that was up to $1,700 and the seller ended the auction around 11:30 PDT.

In earlier communication this week with the seller about whether he was open to my coming to get them if I won, he said he wasn't sure what he had. I guess he found out.

I got mine, but if anyone knows the back story here, please weigh in.

Congrats I'd call those well bought for $750. Please share some pics when you get them. And how you think they compare quality wise to the Vistas. I'm a big Slingerland fan and always interested in those rare and obscure kits. I'd say the Phantoms fall into that slot. Cool1

My guess as to why the seller ended the auction early, was someone made him an offer he could not refuse, since he didnt really know what he had, I'm sure when he saw bids going up to 2K he was happy. I bet someone sent him a PM and offered him $2700 to end the thing now. I once had a rare Michael Jordan Jersey, and the same thing happened to me, I had several poeple ask me to end the auction, and gave me offers. I passed on all of them and got $200 more for the jersey letting it time out. I suspect this seller just took the money and ran, but he left some coin on the table for sure....

good score on the set for $750, I was going to hit the buy it now button as well. glad someone here got it.
