The gold does look great with the green, but I think the silver looks better with the chrome hardware, and still looks good with the green.

I would go with the silver sparkle.

Here's the deal. Originally when I painted the drums and thought of Gold hardware it was a natural choice for Gold Sparkle inlay. However - I decided not to go the gold plating route and opted for Chrome hardware.

I've had at least two people tell me that they would NOT have chosen the Gold Sparkle inlay for these drums - it looks too Gaudy. I love Green & Gold...as has been said here - Green & Gold "it just goes together." I would totally agree with that if the hardware was gold.

Even though the vote has gone mostly to the Gold. I have to see what the drums look like with the Silver Sparkle inlay. I can always change it back if I get tired of it or if I get a lot of comments like "Gold Sparkle would have looked much nicer."

Thanks everyone!

Judging from the poll... you'll get a bunch of those! LOL

Gary, sometimes you just can't win for losing!

Well, if you are going against the concensus and do make a change down the track..

Consider "Mirror Gold" or even better.... "Mirror Chrome".. IMO

Cheers

Yes - Gold is THE favourite and I will probably go that route. But, first I will use the Silver Sparkle inlay...and knock around on the drums for a while...let folks see them - and post some nice photos...here....and at that other Vintage Forum. It will be interesting to see the comments at that time. I've been wanting to try the Silver Sparkle for over a year now. The green...I will leave........I may be able to use it on something else....like...A bright red tom with wood hoops ....that needs some Green Sparkle inlay. Actually a WMP tom with wood hoops would look awesome. I have two such drums....a Gretsch cocktail drum in WMP and a 1938 Carlton with a tacked reso head....Belonged to Bunn E. Carlos at one time.

Anyone hear have a 14" wood hoop that is ready for inlay?

This drum would look nice with inlayed Green Sparkle 'chicks' too.

I also vote for the gold. Gold hardware is such an unnecessary and expensive pain in the backside to want.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
