What model Slingy snare '62 to '70 with 10 lugs was available in a ribbed aluminum shell?

Rapid strainer....... tone control two panels to the left, and badge in between.

Thanks!!!

its either one of 3

- Radio King

- Gene Krupa Sound King

- Super Sound King

the main difffernces are the strainers, the radio king is a 3 point. The super sound king is a dual throw off super sensitive and the GK sound King is a zoomatic. sounds like you have a radio king (without pictures)

note, they are not aluminium they are Brass. they look aliminium from the coating on the inside but if you remove a lug and look at the screw holes, you should find brass

Here's two lame pics... best I have

Ten Lugs

Rapid strainer

Tone Control two panels to the left of strainer

Serial Numbered Black and brass Niles Badge in between

It's configured as a Festival from '62 to '70, but the shell doesn't fit cataloged offerings

Except for the ten lugs, it is configured like a Student Aluminum (offered with six lugs), but again, not a ribbed shell.[Attachment: 10339]

Didn't get the pic....

To check, take off a lug and inspect the hole(s). You may see brass right away. If the holes are dirty and you can't tell, use a very sharp instrument and gently scrape the interior of the hole... if it's brass, you will know right away, it will expose a bright goldish-yellow color.

Don't do this if you're not comfortable with it, and please be careful.

Yep, I guess 8-lug would be semi-pro...:)

Thanks!!
