Sweet set... here's mine... your younger brother, plus a tom.

Are you the original owner?

Did your snare come with the set new?

If so, maybe it would lean towards the snare being a Festival 8-lug rather than a Student Model, if it is brass.

Actually, I don't think it could be a Student... they were offered with six lugs.

Do you remember what model it was sold as?

Was is a 6, 8, or 10 lug?

Thanks

Actually, I don't think it could be a Student... they were offered with six lugs.

After looking again at the cat. listing for the 1963 Student Aluminum, the description states six lugs, but the pic is clearly that of an 8-lug.

Cook book states the drum is 8-lug as well.

But, the drum I have a question about is a 10-lug.

I have still not found a cataloged ribbed shell like the pics I posted, whether brass, alum, steel, or pumpkin rind.

Starting to get a mild case of "Fascinating"

gentleman,

I stand corrected. when you mentioned a "ribbed" snare i thought you were reffering to one of these 3kings

you'll notice the 3 beads running down the center of the drum, i thought these were the "ribs" you were talking about. also the interior of these drums is painted with a matt grey metal paint, making them look Aluminium.

apologies for the bad ID

i dont know what it is , but would like to know cause i have the exact same one..... not like the one in the pic ,mine is a eight lug config...not ten. mine has the 60's niles badge

That's an aluminum shell. The top rim is not a Slingerland and the throw off looks like it may have had a replaced part so it looks like a marching version.
