Rogers Left-handed Set-ups Last viewed: 41 seconds ago
Mike, that is one gorgeous lefty silver sparkle Rogers set and thanks so much for chiming in on this thread. Now i don`t feel so much like "a lonely boy" anymore.I never knew or had forgotten, that you are a lefty.I`m thinking the Rogers lefty sets are very much on the scarce side,at least on this forum.
Chromeo, thanks for the humour and for helping out and you`re absolutely right about the mirror image.
Dan,that`s hilarious...
Thanks guys,
Wayne
Ps.-still looking for more lefty sets on here,so far we`ve got two confirmed sightings.

Dan/Wayne:
I'm not a lefty. That's just a shot I had in my Rogers files. I keep tons of pics just for reference. Comes in handy for restorations. No idea where that one came from. I felt sorry for you both as no one was chiming in on this worthwhile thread. But as far as this topic goes, is there really such a thing as a factory left-hand set? They must have all been custom orders. I don't recall any catalog from any manufacturer stating "Also available in left-hand configuration"
Mike
Agreed Mike. They more than likely would have been special orders. Still, you would think a fair amount of them would still exist and be owned by the forum members too.
Mike, thanks for coming clean in the lefties department ha, and looks like i`m once again a "lonely boy"... Dan has already chimed in on this one and you are absolutely right about "custom orders vs factory built sets for lefties".There is no concrete evidence that these sets were also available in "left handed configuration sets" offered in any Rogers cataloges or any other makes/models for that matter on record. Now i know my set must have been custom ordered "by me", which makes the lefty sets still on the scarce side. And i agree with Dan that there still must be some custom ordered lefty sets out there amoungst the forum members, but where are they?
Come on guys-don`t let me still be the"lonely guy here",lol.Lets see your lefty sets and be proud of em`.
Dan, i somehow feel we won`t get anymore replies back on this one and thanks agian Mike for your always valid points.

Well, we got one more from Mike's archives through that process. It speaks to the rarity of these drums. So now I'm going to be specifically on the lookout for lefty sets to buy.
There was a guy who had a left-handed Rogers red onyx 18,12,14, with snare a while back on eBay. Didn't seem to be moving and I thought that was really strange. I thought I'd kept photos, but can't locate them. Oh well, I'll be more careful in the future.
You`re right Dan,it definately speaks volumes about the rarity of left handed set-ups `custom ordered to the factory`.Could this be the start of right handed players collecting left handed sets, lol, but hey who knows?I was just really quite shocked to see how few of them are out there within this forum. We may have to look further afield in other forums.Been an interesting thread for certain,at least from a lefties standpoint.

I have a '66 Slingerland Modern Jazz Outfit No. 9N in factory lefty configuration. I'll shoot some pics of it tonight and post. I however am not a lefty and play it in a righty config with the rack tom on a snare stand, but I'll set it up lefty for a photo shoot.
Well Dan,unless someone else can offer up some proof, it looks like i`ve got the one and only "left-handed factory made" Rogers set on the forum. That`s kind of cool but leaves me feeling abit on the lonely side.Wayne
The mounted tom holder reveiver fitting is located midway between the batter and reso heads. If that tom has badging on both sides, your beautiful set can be configured to be lefty or righty simply by reversing the two bass drum heads. Even if there's only a script logo on one side of the toms, it will sound just the same no matter which direction the logo faces.
It's also easy to obtain a script logo to install on the other side of the drum. They are nailed on with the little nails bent over on the inside of the drum shells. Tone control knob on the "wrong" side of the drum? Turn the drum over, and mount the logo facing right side up. "That puts the tone control on the bottom head, and I want to have one on the top head". Install a second tone control on the other head. It seems that Rogers drum lovers are much more inclined to want the tone controls to stay on their drums thn Ludwig guys. If you are one of the people who takes the tone controls off, what's the problem? The empty holes would be less obvious on the back side of the drum and on the bottom, anyway.
I don't mean to be filppant about the matter. I'm profoundly left-handed. I've been adapting to the right-handed world for all my life. One reason I switched over early in my drumming career to play a righty set open-handed and right-footed is because it just felt right. I have always led off my fills and runs with my left hand. Most drum sets I've owned with two up toms have been both a lefty or righty set depending on placement of heads on the bass drum.
Thanks leedybdp for your suggestions on converting configurations of a monted tom but i think i`ll just leave well enough alone and not change anything. My 13"toms all have only one script badge and were originally factory sent this way.If i did switch bass drum heads, as of your mentioned tom mount central location, the script badge would be facing the wrong way and again don`t want to mess with it.And as far as tone controls go...wouldn`t even think of any changes there. These are original and that`s the way they`ll stay until someone else owns them and at that point in time it won`t matter to me.Loved your ideas and thanks for being a lefty and i`m completely backwards to your style of play as i play righty up top but my bass is left footed which means i play with the hat on my right and play open handed.Guess us lefty`s are really mixed up as i`m profoundly left handed too lol!
