Rogers Left-handed Set-ups Last viewed: 3 minutes ago

Even in the original lefty endorser pic it looks like the tom mount is just a bit higher on the bass than the one on the other side. And the script logo isn't in front set up like that. Maybe it would of been if the tom was on the other side as a right hand set up. Who knows!?! First lefty Rogers drummer original pic I've seen.

Interesting thread.

A trumpet player friend of mine has a lefty round badge set. 22-16-12-14snare in gray marine pearl. Actually, the 16" tom has the stop sign badge. I play them every Thursday at a jam at his house. Anyone know how rare that set might be?

In the picture showing Stan Krell with the black diamond pearl B&B lugged set, the tom mount is a little higher than the mount for the cymbal rod, which is what you would expect. Placement of the mounts was pretty flexible because they had made those Swivomatic plates with various angles. The drummer was able to position it fairly comfortably if he chose to make a special order. Standard tended to have the mount either up between the top two sets of lugs on the smaller bass drums and below the upper lug on the rear for the 22" or larger basses. But you see all sorts of differing arrangements that were used over the years. The Brits tended to use a straight Swivomatic mount such that the tom arm came out from the drum at an angle, rather than rising more or less perpendicular to the floor. You see that on Ringo's kit, in particular, but on many others as well.

Gary N you seem to have a knack for digging up these vintage layouts and you`ve outdone yourself yet once again.Great pic and thanks for sharing.Dan Boucher is absolutely correct in saying that the lefty/righty order layouts were very versatile with the Rogers swivomatic mounts and three different degree angel plates. My set was ordered for a lefty in 67` and still remains untouched that way.

You are very welcome. Flattery will get you every where-LOL! Here is page 2 from the same mailer. It was given out to dealers to install Swivo plates after they left the factory. I became a paper hound for Rogers info after I found the drums I was looking for. Still looking for any ads or any old catalog mailer/paper for the WW2 Rogers NJ drums...
