Here are some pictures of the 16x14 wmp Slingerland floor tom and the kit. As you can see, it has a date stamped 1958 with three reinforcement hoops and what looks like a mahogany interior. There is no badge and the wrap is a bit more yellowed the other two drums. Anyone have any thoughts on what this floor tom is? Thanks.

I have seen earlier Radio King drums w/3 rings. And that is definitely a Slingerland tone control.
Looks like a Slingerland stamp on the inside. No badges on toms during that era. I'd say it might be a bit of an oddity (older shell from the bottom of a stack getting used or something like that) but it is a Slingerland drum.

I believe they only made the Radio King shells with the three rings and that was from 1936-1941. So, you think this is a Radio King shell?
Our resident Slingerland expert vintagemore2000 Mark should know.

It appears to me that it's a RK floor tom. No badge, correct muffler, even date stamp.

16x14 is an odd size too so they may have had some shells in that size sitting around for quite a while. Or...maybe they are two 8x14 snare shells put together in the middle and requiring that third ring to reinforce the resulting seam. No way of really knowing that without removing the wrap but I'd say the odd size older shell theory is much more likely.

That seems to be the consensus, but according to the info here, they stopped making the shells with three rings in 1941, this drum is dated 1958. That seems like a long time to be sitting on a shelf unused.
It also has Rogers leg mounts, but no extra holes.

The three rings extended up until about '41. WWII drums had them on bass drums. hat's definitely a Radio King and I have seen them in that size. As was stated, probably just an old shell left over from the old days.
Wait....is that a 14 diameter????
