Tell me about a bronze Supra Last viewed: 56 seconds ago

Probably not what you want to hear, but regular COB Supra's can go for that range. :(Based on the picture you posted, it looks like the drum does have some scuff marks. Since the shell was lacquered bass, I'm not sure how you would clean/brighten up this drum. Maybe the lacquer is completely gone, so normal techniques would be used.I would be straight up with sell/friend and discuss all/any of the issues and come to an agreed price. I'm guessing somewhere in the middle ($800-ish), if that's what you both can agree on.One thing's for sure, it's a rare bird. I hope you can get it.-Tim

Thanks for the input, Tim. A similar one sold for $750 on ebay, but it had extra holes. So $800-ish seems about right. Other than the few scuff marks and the 'wonky' muffler knob, this drum appears to be in great shape. Wonder if the hoops are COB?

Thanks again.

It looks like a lacquered brass Super Ludwig 400 to me.The lacquered brass drums are not easy to come by,and there's definately fewer than the COB Super Ludwigs.Bermuda has one with a Transition badge I believe.

I have to wonder if those are the original rims, with that lug splay.Maybe it's the washers pushing the tension rods away from the rims?

I just sold my super sensitive bronze to someone you guys probably know, but I agree withthe picture here that the drum under discussion is brass-my hand hammered super sensitive bronze with serial number 3112859 was clearly a different color and I KNOW mine was bronze-now I need to go edit my profile as I no longer own it!!

Yes, Dave Mattacks is one of my favorite drummers. We've established that the drum is a lacquered brass Super 401. The seller thought it was bronze, and I didn't know any better. He's still on vacation, but when he returns, I hope we can agree on a price. I really want this drum, as I expect it to sound fantastic.

Thanks for the replies.
