Wow, congratulations John! I think the tracking works a little different with Reds, or Registered mail. One good thing is they shipped the Hope Diamond through the US Postal Service via Registered Mail and typically all Reds should be delivered/ signed for before noon. Also they move it from the trucks straight into the processing centers building (into the indoor locked cages) so it won't spend any time out in the weather sitting on the docks like all the other mail.

That's actually comforting news. One of things I was concerned about was exposure to drastic changes in temps or humidity. Those are 100 year old calf heads on there!

Too many great drums to list here!

I wouldn't worry about the humidity John. They will stay frozen till they get there. Cool Dude

Oooh, looks like someone knows their USPS P&DC/Transportation SOP's! Quite correct there. Yes, there is nothing more secure than Registered Mail, but the security processes require employee signatures of acceptance every time the piece changes hands. This protects against loss, but can delay the piece slightly more than First Class or Priority Mail which are handled and sorted through completely automated processes. Small price to pay. It's the only way to ship something that has intrinsic value and which can't be replaced (like a rare BB!)

The mailman came and went... no drum! Eye Ball

The USPS tracking information has not updated since 11:56 am yesterday, placing the package in Chicago. No progress or movement is shown for the last 30 hours. As far as tracking is concerned, the thing is in Chicago, or still in transit. I'm not sure which.

I cannot get a live human being on the phone at -any- of the numbers listed for USPS customer service. Just recordings that repeat the information that is on the website tracking page.

The package was shipped: Registered, Priority Mail. (RR number) It is insured for the amount I paid for the drum. But I want my drum! The only thing I can think of is that the weather in Chicago is holding up the mail trucks. Other than that, I'm stumped as to how to proceed.

HELP!

USPS tracking is very poor. I've had items shipped and arrived and the tracking info was still behind (said it was still in transit).

I send most items priority thru USPS. They shoot for 2 day delivery(don't guarantee it) and hit it often but sometimes it goes to 3. Patience Weedhopper!

John, I know that it really sucks now, but that will just make it sweeter when that awesome snare finally gets to its new home. I know what you are feeling, because I had that "lost in a blizzard" crap happen to me when I bought my walnut Slingy`s. They were shipped from Arizona, then a blizzad hit the midwest the next day . Same stuff, I had no idea where the drums were and I could not talk with any human on the phone to ease my suffering. That automated crap on the phone had me cranked!Eye Ball I got so nerved up about it, the wife had to talk me down! Well, it all ended well and it will for you to man. The drums showed up safe and sound. Clapping Happy2 Looking foward to see the pics, Tommy
