If this had just happened I say some of you have very valid points. Did anyone miss the part about the date being in 1975? What is a cop going to do on a case that was closed 35 years ago? Nothing. This is just a morality trip for you guys and you're right. No one should take stealing or thievery lightly. I know I would inflict some serious harm on a fool that stole my drums. We are all passionate people here but this thread has no more life left in it. To the original poster, just keep those kind of things to yourself like if you had a foot fetish or if you had a wart down there. TMI... I know I was happier before I knew that nefarious people who play stolen drums lurked on this Christian, family-friendly website. Yes that was sarcasm. I think everyone here is a little too judgemental or something to do with mental. As I said, I am not condoning stealing or paying stolen musical instruments. It's just another reminder that people can suck and often do in this world we live in. I think we all agree that we don't want to own stolen gear and we all feel bad for those who have gotten jacked by a gutless douche-bag who just couldn't help himself. Have a good night everybody and hug your family and your drums...

Back off on using followers of Christ as a bar for your pigeonholed goody behavior example. It offends me.

I am offended that you are obviously looking to start something Rogersling. This isn't the first time either. Get over yourself. I wasn't calling out your religion. I was poking fun at how ridiculous people are being about this subject but then again, if I have to explain it you don't get it.

Look sparky, I got no beef with you or anyone else on this thread. I'm not weighing in on any of this crap. I stated exactly what I meant. Do not cross a freekin line with faith here. This is a vintage drum forum. You don't need to use my faith to make your little joke. That's pretty plain and simple.
Look Sparky? What are you 70? Look man, if you read my post it did nothing to offend anyone. I love God and Jesus and I think you took this too literally. I didn't cross any faith line. I used Christian and family-friendly. How is that blasphemy? A true Christian sees a man and accepts the man despite his beliefs. I don't think it's okay to sling mud on anyones religion. You are right in that this is a vintage drum forum, not a religious platform for people to judge a guy for playing some stolen drums he had nothing to do with. This is all I am gonna say about this but I just wanted to clarify because it seems like some people need extra clarification on things. Storm Trooper

Not 70, but working my way there. I erred in voicing my frustration to the level I hit. I am tired of gents using Christ and faith as a springboard for all that is ... whatever it is they dislike. I have no patience or tolerance for anyone using faith as a joke. It's about the most personal thing a man can have. It makes no difference what the faith, it's just wrong and has no place. So, whether it is understood or not, it should not be ... here or anywhere else. I'm not preaching. I'm pointing out that this is a vintage drum forum and you just don't make comments like that. We don't make jokes centered around J.E.W.s, do we? We don't discuss with titters and guffaws all the mistaken characteristics associated with Buddah. Joseph Smith doesn't playfully reside within our limericks. Why use Christ to make a joke? Does it make it more acceptable? Wrong is wrong ... period.

And the drums are worth how much?
this seems to be taking too long to resolve..
Forget my earlier post, you must get them out of the country now, put them back on a train.

Nice examples in a more desirable finish sell mediocre. Yours is silver sparkle with missing badges. It is nice, but it wont fetch the dollars.
I have loved and played Slingerlands since the 1950's. So, the following is said with reverence to one of my favorite drum brands.a. They are missing the factory badges.b. They are wrapped in the most readily available color.c. There is no matching snare drumd. They are from the mid 1970's.If the badges were there, if they were in a less common color, if there were a matching snare drum, and if they were from the 50's or 60's, they might fetch $1,000--$1,500. As they are, I would say that $800 is pushing it. Throw in the back story, and $500 is too much.
As to the value of the drums, probably around $200-$300 utility value. The cymbal stands could be sold individually, and you could get as much as $500 for them all. True lack of badges drops the value some. I just want to know if they're the 3 ply with re-rings or 5ply with no rings. That makes a difference. The 3 ply shells sound better according to some. You might be able to make more if you find some badges and put them on the drums, or if you sell them part by part.
