OK..see how frustrating this is?...That is why I HATE Evilbay MOST of the time.....My BDP Rogers ended tonight with no bites at $45....What's next? List it for $35?....Minus the 13.2% cut they get....I get $30 for a 1960's Rogers shell WITH a $15 badge on it?Might be having a big bonfire here coming up.folks...if anyone on here wants to watch..we have a big backyard ....you all are invited! We can cook marshmallows and hot dogs over the shells! Founders beer isn't too far away..so can get some growlers...and have big fun!

Growlers of beer! what time?

Thank you!

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Since you mentioned the "large yard", I'm sure they'd make great planters. Section off a small area of the yard, surround it with paver stones, use the shells as planters, and pick up some of those "metal musicians" they sell in most landscaping departments and ENJOY year after year.

Blair maybe when you have EB auctions post a link to them in the FS section here. I prefer to buy from forum members and people I know in general. It's a frustrating time to sell things. It's either red hot or you can't give them away. Those shells should be saved if possible. I don't think I'd have the heart to burn them or make planters. I'd give them away before they went into the fire. I've often thought about a some sort group program to refurb old drums and give them to deserving people or a orphanage who just can't afford to buy. Where they can get in the hands of people both young and old who can use them. Music and art school programs have been hit hard with fed/state cutbacks. So maybe even a local school can use them.

Glenn, you are a good guy, always thinking of others. It would be cool if members could come together and put kits together for people that cant afford them. Something like this,

Several members donate enough parts to put together a nice kit, cymbals, stands, sticks and throne.

Send shells to me for finishing.

Ship everything to a member that will assemble and deliver the kit to a deserving person.

Just a thought.

Thank you!

its funny were talking about this now...

I asked my 7yr old daughter about there music department..

she replied yes its a big bucket that has a lot of (hand held percussion items)

Not like in the day we had a whole music room with a complete line up of strings, horns, you name it)..

So I've spoken with the principle and asked it would be ok if I donate a small drum kit..?

She didn't know how to reply..!

I have a old MIJ Raven kit in blue sparkle...20/16/12 with matching snare..

needs some wrk/pieces but should be doable..

I found it for $25 last year....maybe another $50 is misc / a day of elbow grease and viola......

when its done...I'l drop off at the school and maybe do a lil drum clinic for all the kids that are interested....mmmmm...maybe its a great way to get new students..?

Kman

Maybe we should start a new section with pics and who gets what and blah blah blah ..?

I agree about posting links in this forum to Ebay auctions.... I had looked at this shell a couple of times and was tempted to bid. If I had known it was owned by someone who is active on VDF I would have been more likely to pull the trigger as you generally seem to be pretty good guys as opposed to some of the Ebay sellers I encounter.

In fact send me a PM and lets figure out a deal for it...

Thanks Jeff I'd be up for doing this for sure. Maybe we can put some ideas together and start a new thread. I don't want to go too OT here on Blair.

Kelly your a good guy for helping your daughters school out!! I'm sure they really appreciate this!

Yes Glenn, you are right again. Sorry for getting off you topic Blair, but look at what your thread has done. Hope it helps move your shells as well.

Blair,

I've had listings sit stagnant at a reasonable BIN for a few weeks with no takers. After getting tired of seeing them day after day, I put them up for auction at a $0.99 start and have been surprised sometimes at how well they do. I'm sure a psychology major could chime in here on people's actions on the bay when it comes to bidding, but I sure haven't figured them out yet!
