I use two in my drum room on my practice kit. This is what I wish I could play all the time.By drummingbulldog

Love your kit!!!!
I play two rides over the two floor toms to my right ones a 20" the other is a 22" or 24" all are Zild's from the 60's all heavy..This is my set up whrn iam playing a single bass drum set up..But when it comes to a double bass set up i used four rides 2 on the right and two to the left..same sizes on both sides..But on the other hand i also have some 17'',18", and 19" crashes/ ride cymbals around the set..So maybe a total of 5 rides on the single set up and 7 on a double set up.Mikey
It all depends on which kit I am playing. On my "wedding kit", there's a ride on each side of me.
Lately, I've been using a smaller kit with only one ride....

You're in the special category, then!!!!
I am starting to evolve my playing again, and now my drum voice needs more ride cymbals.
Thanks for your reply and check your PM's.

Now I am starting to see that I don't have to be a prog rock master or hair metal dude to have multiple ride cymbals.
Is your wedding kit one you play at weddings? Or is the name an inside joke?
I like to have a very pingy ride sound and a very washy ride sound, and because you can't find this in a single cymbal, I use two :p
the second one is very crashable so that is an extra advantage :)
When I play blues, I "ride" a lot. And the people I play with always like the switch from pingy to washy :p gives a song much more "emotion"

That's what I'm finding!!! I'm trying out for a blues band Saturday night. So I am on the right track. I found that washy works better for some of the older numbers (like "Respect" by Aretha Franklin). Pingy works for some other numbers, in particular the modern blues numbers.
1 Ride 3 crashes 24 ride,20,18,16 crashes 20 above FT, might change to a Zcustom ride if I am playing with no mikes as it is louder all the rest are 2002's
see both sets have similar setups no matter what the drum config is

Used to use 2 (late 70's Z Rock 21 & Z 22") in a prog band. Both over my ft. Just the Rock 21, these days. However, I have a late 70's 20" 505 crash that has a nice washy ride sound, over my one ride tom.

Nice kits!!!
If you want to stay in the Paiste family for your 2K2 set up, Musician's Friend has a Dark Metal Ride with some cosmetic issues for around 2 bills. It's almost identical to the Stewart Copeland Blue Bell ride except that it isn't blue. That would give your Z Custom a run for it's money in volume. I had one of those Z Custom rides, and it was the hammering that helped lure me away from Paistes.
