I have been monitoring vintage rare drum prices for approx. 20 years.... at first I thought it was crazy but had I purchased every Dynasonic , Gretsch Bop kit and everything Camco back then I would have been a multimillionaire . Not only are these instruments fine Musical items but they are rare and obviously in demand, and frankly out of the financial reach and understanding of most of you.... these instruments are not only functional in a very high degree unlike a set of new drums have an appreciation value equal or better then most stocks on the stock market.... you see all you who are naysayers there are people out there who see this 13,000 drum set as an investment that will diversify their portfolios ...yes granted there no guarantees but if I have to take risks in investments I would rather invest in a totally TAX FREE device that has the potential to hit much higher value...... we all said a gretsch Bop set for 6k....Crazy until they hit 7k,8k9k,10k, etc....lets see who is laughing in five years ...remember this set is an exception a thorughbred among hundreds of not that uncommon vintage drum sets.... REMEMBER THAT!
"Not only are these instruments fine Musical items but they are rare and obviously in demand, and frankly out of the financial reach and understanding of most of you.."
So i guess insulting most of the drummers here with years of experience just as you have is justified for stating their opinions to the contrary of yours ? Hmm. Last i checked , it's forum that is open to debate, discussion, and opinion.. All of what you stated is irrelevant to the main focus of what I and johnnyringo are saying.. Even if you have the money to afford it, it doesn't negate the fact the price is outrageous to some, and decent to others...It's called economics, and material things that cost peanuts to manufacture shouldn't have to cost half of a mortgage down payment.. You certainly have your opinion, as do others,
so please REMEMBER THAT the next time you attempt to create animosity on a usually civil forum..Your comment comes off as disrespectful to all others who have a different opinion than yours.. As far as your comment on this type of an investment having more of an appreciation than most stocks on the stock market, well, that may be true, until the entire economy suffers, which means the work place suffers, which means drummers or collectors who invest are also affected, and that's simple economics 101..Please don't take my comment towards you as hostile or offensive, because it's not my intention.. All i'm saying is, we should all respect each other on this forum, whether someone agrees with you or not..
Peace.
