I recently picked up that exact same kit!! Mine wasn't drilled for a muffler or cymbal arm either . My bass drum even has the same mount added to it! I'm missing the snare:(

Advertised price on CL was $500.00. I was luckily the first one to call and of course by the time I got there the price had gone up from all the calls the seller received. But the people selling the kit were really cool and actually just happened to be related to an old friend of mine that I worked with in radio here in the valley years ago. They actually belonged to my old friends dad apparently. Small world considering the size of the Phoenix Metro Area. They were happy I was going to restore them and keep them for my collection and small studio versus flipping em. The final price I walked with was $600.00 and they were happy I got a good deal. I was happy to give em my $600.00 and told em I would offer the drums to them first if I ever had to sell em. Which hopefully I never will. Anyway I finished up the snare this morning. I had an original Gretsch Micro Sensitive from a re-wrap Gretsch snare in my collection that I slapped on and amazingly I had a spare tone control to replace the damaged one on the drum. That shocked my because I have a ton of spare parts but never seem to have the one I need when I get to restoring something like this. Wrap on this one is great, The Micro Sensitive Strainer covered up the one extra hole from the Ludwig Strainer and the chrome shined up awesome. I took the drum completely apart washed the shell then waxed the shell with Blitz Wax. Took Mothers Chrome polish to the the lugs, hoops etc. Cleaned out the lug tension inserts with fine steel wool, re-oiled with 3 in 1, slapped some Puresound 16 strand wires on it and fired it back together. Now on to the floor tom!

Holy Cow!x-mas1

Now you just need a gretsch drum key for the snap in key holder..

Wait a minute....$600 for drums AND cymbals?

This isn't 1988 still, is it?

Sounds like you just got a free Pro Jazz kit thrown in for LESS then the price of the cymbals!

Believe it or not this is the most I have paid for any vintage kit in my collection. Not including restoration costs of course. My 64 Ludwig Downbeat Kit that started this whole obsession a few years back only set me back $280.00. Now it needed more work than this one and did not have any cymbals but was ripe for the pickin! I am not in the financial position to just collect drums I like. I have to let the drums come to me! Wait for a good deal on drums that have some issues then pounce one em! Cymbals were part of this deal I am happy to say.

Funny you should say that Blair I was thinking the same thing! AZ is a battleground state as far as vintage drums are concerned and I have been hosed by the one nutter more than a few times! One for for the good guys who actually keep and restore these beautiful old tubs!

Dude, that snare looks almost new. Great job. Can't wait for the after pics of the entire kit. What a score. Cool coincidence, too.

Who is the "one nutter", here in AZ? Just curious and would like to steer clear.

Ha not you AZ Bill! I think there are more than a few drum stripper's here in the valley. Not one specific "one nutter"! Pic of the floor ton coming soon!
