LOL good plan John.
John! I want that drum! Especially after reading mikes post about it. I hoping it is a 64. Any date stamp on the inside?
robyn - I'll let you know about the date stamp once it's in my hands. I'm expecting delivery next week. If you are serious about it and you really want the drum, I'll detail it, tune it and set it aside for you. Let me know. Once it's in my hands, I'll look for any ink stamps inside the shell. If you go by the Ludwig serial number charts, Mike is correct, the number lands on the cusp of late 64'/early 65.' Either way, it's an old-school Jazzfest. Classic snare drum and classic Ludwig sound. You'll be real happy with it and your kit will be period correct and complete.

All sounds good to me. Not to change the subject but i shook hands with Mr. Ludwig III today and got his autograph on a ludwig t-shir, now how cool is that?
too cool robyn! that's great...
most 1964 drums do not have date stamps. you can certainly blame the ringo rush on that. you hear me talking a lot about march 65 drums. its mainly because that's when the date stamps start appearing again on a regular basis.

Thanks mike, so then....if it dont have a stamp...it is most likely a 64? Either way...just talked it over with john....the drum is mine. I dare anyone to try and wipe this huge grin off my face, go ahead n try. :p
congrats on locking that one down robyn.
the serial number is the primary indication that it should be a 64. the red felt muffler and the cob hoops just add to support that. the cob hoops also add some premium value to the drum.
