That's awesome Manny. You are the one who deserved that kit for sure!

My other band practices really near my office so I took a few more pictures. I just played on the snare with my hands and wow! I have to say this snare sounds awesome even in the shape it is now with old heads and a torn reso head.

Still amazed at the condition of the hi hat stand

Wow..that is a fantastic score...15-20 years ago you could do that for $700...but not normally these days!
Those will clean up SO nice...
Use Scrubbing Bubbles on the Satin Flame...and watch the dirt run off....
What sizes are they?
Is that a Camco cymbal arm? Either that,or Slingerland...
PS..did those hi hat cymbals come with it too?
Yes the hi hat cymbals and the ride cymbal came with it. I am sure the satin flame wrap will clean up easy. To be honest though I would prefer the blue sparkle finish; I might have them redone in that finish. They are 13,16,20.
Here is a picture of the ride cymbal that came with it:

You are just joking,right?
Please DO NOT recover them!
Sell them and buy the same set in Blue Sparkle...
NNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Don't recover those!!!
That is one seriously wonderful set you got at a great price.
I hope you're kidding - otherwise I'm calling the Red Cross to protect them. You could probably flip them and end up with that blue sparkle set you want for essentially free.
This is where I depart from the vintage drum folks. Here is one I had done. Shells stripped, toms cut down 2"

I am confident it would come out fine and in a finish I wanted.

I'll trade you my Blue Sparkle '65 Ludwigs for your kit 20, 12, 14, matching Jazz Fest snare. Everybodys happy!
1965 Club Date/Downbeat Combo Blue Sparkle
Cleveland Rogers COB Powertone snare
1965 Ludwig Supra Snare
Thanks but I already have a 67 Club date. Still have not decided on a recover 100% so the internet can relax. Anyway they are my drums and I will do as I please with them. Possible re cover aside I will not change any hardware. That is my biggest gripe with anyone and any drums.

The "strange wire thing" is a clip to hold the drum key in place inside the snare drum.
Don't recover, it destroys the value and integrity of the kit. A paint job on a classic car is one thing, but removing and orignial wrap would be to me the same as stripping a original nice looking paint off of a 69 Nova. You could do it, but if it looks great, why? The value of a rewrap has been shown over the years to de-evaluate drums. Keep 'em original, clean 'em right and take good care of 'em.
