I see...thanks for that..OR..a different scenario....sell your kit online/on here for more $$ then Steve is offering...buy his kit for cash?

Yes that is always an option! So if someone needs a RB kit in the finish I have make me an offer ;) I was and still am always up for that option. I was just honest with the forum members from the beginning with this whole deal so it would be hard for me to just sell them drums for way more than I had into it. Especially since I was supposed to just get them for forum members.

The snare is just too sweet though I think it will stay a part of my collection.

AAAAAHHHHHT BLAKEY!!! UGETSU!!! One of my favorite Blakey records.

Thanks for your service. I served on the attack carrier USS Hancock during the Vietnam war. It was the COMCARDIV 9 flagship and I was the drummer in the Admiral's 17 piece big band. I was lucky to see the war from a safe distance sitting on the flight deck floating in the Tonkin Gulf.

I love vintage round badge Gtretsch drums but I'm not a big fan of the 20/13/16 config. I would prefer the sound of a 22" or 24" BD with the 13 and 16, especially the tuneability of the floor tom. I love the sound of 18/12/14 for bebop or small group jazz. The 20/12/14 for all around versatility. If they were my drums, I would sell them to someone who wants those sizes in that original wrap...but....they are not mine. I like your latest choice of wrap if you do decide to keep them. Here is a set of 54 Broadkasters that I sold. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.[Attachment: 65022]

Thanks for your service! Had I snagged it in different sizes it would have been perfect. Still I am sure I can snag up a 12 and 14 to round this kit out if I want. I have 3 kits with 22" bass drums and one with an 18" so this one works for now. Beautiful kit you have there. Really stunning.

Well folks my wife just recieved an amazing speeding award! So looks like for now I will just be cleaning this guy up and playing it as is :) My main band will be tracking album #2 soon so if I do take it in the studio it just needs to work. For now I will be pulling the hardware and cleaning it up like my club date. Only missing parts to hunt down are a 16" rim for the floor tom and tension rods.

I will use the methods on the guide to deal with the rust. The mufflers are the in the worse condition with rust. If they were free of rust I would just clean up and play as is but I feel that the rest needs to be adressed.

Lots of studio and session work coming up.

It took a little while but I just bought this nice 4157 snare. It might actually be 3 ply or early 60's since it has the micro sensitive strainer, silver sealer, but no paper tag. Once it arrives I will take a closer look.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I re-wrapped an old RB kit recently.

But it came to me like this:

The wrap was cracked and broken in a million places.

When I took the lugs off most of it fell off.

If it had been in better shape I would have left it alone.

I have another RB kit that I am going to re-wrap but it came to me already stripped and full of holes.

Your drums are yours to do with what you will.

If I had an old set with og wrap that was in decent shape I would keep them og.
