Most will just wash it off.
A phony would kick me for it, a Ranger would get a kick outta it.
Many thanks for your service BTDT !i

OK. I missed the mustard thing.
When you make a combat jump you get a yellow star "mustard stain" on your jump wings. I was lucky when I went through Airborne aka jump school the jump towers were broken! I went straight to jumping out of perfectly good airplanes and skipping these:

Like I said I had intended these to go to anyone who wanted them at first! I promise I made all my calls the day I looked at them and I know most everyone backed down when they heard the sizes. So the offer is still for a trade for a round badge kit in a sparkle or color I might like more.
This is what it's all about fellas:

I value everyone's input here and of course remember for me its a hobby.
Oh brother.
Is that an 18" bass drum?
Anyway, satin flame wraps do not age well. The didn't look that great when new, and wear and tear certainly don't give them a particularly pleasant "patina" and no body should ever fault you for recovering anything in satin flame. Doesn't matter, you are in America! Wave that flag and say what you want and recover those with a nicer wrap.

It's a 20" bass drum. I was quite honest with the seller. He just had back surgery and I said if it was an 18" bass drum then he had hit the vintage drum lottery! I think being so honest and up front with him about everything helped. I offered $500 and he countered with $700. At that point I knew even though I felt I could have haggled a little I knew it was a deal that at least some folks might have interest. At that price I know it would have been gone before I got to even look at it for other forum members. I might give him my old Tama kit if he wants it since he plans on getting back to playing again.
Eye BallEye BallEye Ball Im my humble opinion, rewrapping that kit would be the shame of all shames. They are yours to do with what you please OBVIOUSLY. All Im saying, is that if "what you please" is tearing the wrap off a perfectly good all original satin flame round badge kit to re-do it in the super boring modern blue sparkle that is offered today, then no offense, but what you please (again, in my opinion) is really really really really Lame.

Well my Gretsch kit is last in line for any work really. The Ludwig is nearing completion, then the Rogers just needs to be cleaned up. On that note here is a sample of the Ludwig wrap next to my Rogers:

I want whatever I do go with to be catalog and also very soulful. Totally chance I got two kits with similar finishes. From a distance I thought the Rogers kit was something different all together.
Satin flame's one of those finishes that can be kinda worn, and still look good onstage. But, it does wear, and if it's past what you're ok with, they're your drums. The floor tom and bass on this set was a rewrap by Explorers Percussion. They'd been badly sun faded. I really liked it.My one RB experiment. Gorgeous kit you have there!! Walking The toms held up very well but the bass drum is in very rough shape. Other than that the shells themselves are fine and in round nicely. The edges look very nice as well. I am very pleased that at least two out of 3 vintage kits did not need edge work. FWIW in the money I have tied up in 3 of my vintage kits it does not equal even the cost to replace one of my Sonor kits. I will always gig Sonor live, in videos and most recordings but the vintage drums have so much soul to them.

Adam,
you said exactly what I wanted to say...but didn't..
To me...Blue Sparkle IS very boring! Yawn...
How many times have I seen that on drums dating back to around 1968? Too many!
How many White Satin Flames in nice shape?..WAY less....
