Once you get over the initial enjoyment of a Gretsch kit from that era, then have that closer look and start to us it; after which dissappointment sets in because of all the cheesy hardware, get a Rogers kit from that era and you'll be in drum love. Take that all you Gretsch lovers! (LOL - Make sure your Rogers doesn't have B&B lugs).
I do agree that Rogers hardware was the best, but at the same time that stuff weighs a ton!
I love the disclaimer: "Make sure your Rogers doesn't have B&B lugs". ;) Talk about "cheesy". On top of that, the engineers didn't even make the beaver-tail lugs holes the same size, so Rogers owners with broken B&B lugs couldn't easily replace/upgrade to the new style. For for clarification, I'm a lucky owner of both brands and this is just a fun Gretsch vs. Rogers jab. :D
I hope we can at least agree that the sound of a "jazz tuned" Gretsch kit is quite amazing.
