Slingerland kit on Craingslist - value? Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Hello everyone - I'm kinda new here so I'll do a little intro before I get to the point of this thread.

My name's Luke, I'm 15 and I've been drumming for almost 8 years. I've got two kits at the moment: a 1980 Corder maple kit, and a 1965 Cleveland Rogers Holiday kit w a matching Dynasonic snare. I really love classic rock and the great musicians that came along with that music. I'm always on the hunt for a real nice old kit to get my hands on, and this kit came up on Craigslist.

http://cleveland.craigslist.org/msg/4854510918.html

It's an old Slingerland kit that is from the 50s and looks pretty rough, but a little elbow grease could fix that up a bit Cool Dude I messaged the owner and haven't gotten a response about prices or sizes of drums. They appear to be a 16x26 bass, 9x13 tom, and a 5x14 snare. I'm just wondering if any of the Slingerland pros out here could help me a bit and tell me what a good range of price would be for this little kit. Thanks for the help in advance and I look forward to knowing everyone a little bit better soon!

Luke if this kit isn't that far away go get it these are radio kings with a radio king snare drum. the cymbals could also be vintage zildjians, ask the seller what he is looking to get if he isn't sure. try 400.00 first.

Luke, nice to meet you! I cant give a value of the kit as I am not an expert in any way. I just want to welcome you and commend you on a very appropriate introduction. I think it is real cool that you are a fan of classic rock and vintage drums. The seller had a very good intelligent Craigs list add and sounds like a good person to deal with. The drum look to be complete, I would grab them if I were you. Slingerland drums are awesome! Best of luck to you!

Thank you!

Buy that kit. Drop dead killer original. Offer $500. With the pies I would go $1200. It is early 50's. Will clean up to near mint. If you are not interested please let me know. I am.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick replies, guys! I was wondering if that was a real Radio King set or if it just had a head with the RK stamp on it. I'll send him another message and ask him what he's looking to get outta it. For sure, it's about 45 minutes away if I'm not mistaken, so he's very close! I'll definitely make sure to ask him again.

Creighton, I've got an update. I finally got ahold of the owner and what he's asking is fairly reasonable; he also said he's willing to negotiate. We're going to arrange a meeting tomorrow so I can look at them in person and negotiate a price.
