A good sign if he's willing to negotiate. Don't leave the meeting without 'em.
Slingerland kit on Craingslist - value? Last viewed: 4 hours ago
I have a set of those early 50`s Radio Kings, they are greats drums! I hope the snare is a single ply maple, if it is you are going to love that drum. IMO, one of the best snares on the planet. I wish you good luck with the deal, let us know how it goes.

Thank you for the wishes! I'll let you guys know how it goes. I'll post a few pictures after they're cleaned up and set up if everything works out!

Welcome to VDF!
I hope you stick around. You sound like a bright young man and there are a hundred old cats around here who would be happy to share their knowledge and experience with you. You're the future. Soak up all the drumming knowledge that you can from us and then some far off day, you can hand it down to interested up and coming players younger than you. It's a chain... goes back in time and runs out into the future. Hope you stick around. You'll learn a thing, or three. Some very knowledgeable musicians here, take full advantage. Ask lots of questions!
Look forward to seeing what you do with your RK's. Great choice BTW.
John
John, thank you!
I'm really enjoying it here so far, everyone is so welcoming and very helpful. I'll be stickin around here for a while, you can trust me on that! I've already learned so much just from reading a few threads in the past few days. I would love to hear anything and everything you guys have to share, you guys know it all! I'll make sure to ask any questions I've got! The people that are a part of this forum are very very kind and helpful, and it's hard to find that much of anywhere now...
I'm excited to see what happens with the RK's too! If I get em I'll have to mic em up and get a few covers going!

Whoa there cowboy... not quite. I've been playing 50+ years and I -still suck- at a bunch of stuff , but - I learn something new everyday. The really cool part of it all is that we're all learning together and from each other. I'm certain that you have as much to offer me, as I have to offer to you. That's what I invited you to become a part of. No such thing as a 'know it all' in any arena of Life. :p

Can't wait to see the drums...
John
Nice to "meet" you, Luke. Like a legendary young man with your same name, you seem wise beyond your age. The drums you already possess, and the Radio King drums that you may buy, are all great drums. Most drummers of your age don't appreciate, or even know about, the types of drums that you wisely own and might buy soon. Some of us in this forum are long time Slingerland owners, players, collectors, and lovers. Good luck with buying this great drum outfit. A few hours of cleaning them will work wonders. Have a bottle of Dawn dish washing liquid and a large plastic tub on hand to soak all of the metal parts over night to remove many decades of shmutz.
Welcome!Keep on Pl
Good Luck getting those beauties. If it were close to me I'd be posting pictures already.
Keep us posted on your progress!:)

I did get a bit ahead of myself there, John  Very wise words, though!
Good news is I did get the kit! Looks great and I'll add pictures in a little while here. Came with snare stand, cymbal stand, ride arm for the bass, hi-hat stand, original kick pedal, and muffler for the kick. Also included were a set of Paiste Ludwig Standards: 18" crash, 16" crash, 14" hi-hats, and a no-name splash. Pictures a bit later!
